ZVA 12-28 BAND

ZVA 12-28 BAND

Blues band ZVA 12-28 BAND is rooted in the tradition of artists such as Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf or Willie Dixon. Between 2005 and 2015, they released four albums, on which blues blends with Slovak folklore. They received a lot of awards during almost three decades on the scene. In the last three years, they made it to the top of Bluesmusic portal poll in the category of the “Most Favorite Band” and last year they won the categories of “Singer of the Year” and “Instrumentalist of the Year”.  → read more

Vojdi

Vojdi

Pohoda will also see a Prešov-based trio Vojdi (Marek Buranovský, Tomáš Bateško, Samuel Bilý) with guest Lukáš Valkučák. The band can be characterized by indented compositions with frequent changes of motives and unconventional rhythms. With ironic approach and staying on top of things, they remind us of the local legends Chiki liki tu-a, but sound-wise, they are influenced mainly by the French new wave of eclectic bands such as Aquaserge and Moodoid. Trenčín airfield will soon resound with top-class Prešov math-progressive-indie-shoegaze played by Vojdi. → read more

A chance to win Pohoda Festival pass at Dobrý trh (Good Market)

Pohoda starts in less than 11 weeks, but we are looking forward to seeing you at Jakubák in Bratislava TOMORROW ALREADY. We will participate in a discussion to talk (not only) about waste sorting and other environmental topics at festivals. Apart from that, we have adopted a recycle station to show you how to sort waste the right way. Students from the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences of the Comenius University will join us to recruit volunteers – “FSESort-helpers” for waste collection points at this year’s festival. → read more

GusGus at Pohoda 2018

GusGus at Pohoda 2018

Few projects manage to merge as many genres and artistic forms as GusGus. In the second half of the 90s, they showed that Icelandic scene is far from being about Björk only. Several successful artists (e.g. Emiliana Torrini) kicked off their career in this band. During two decades, they recorded ten albums to critical acclaim, including the latest two Mexico and Lies Are More Flexible. Biggi Veira described their philosophy in last year’s interview for Wave Radio: “I love when the music gives me goose bumps.” We believe that their concert at Pohoda 2018 will have the same effect on our visitors. → read more

Nakhane

Nakhane

In 2014, Nakhane won a South African Music Award for Best Alternative Album. He also has a couple of film awards for playing a starring role in film The Wound under his belt. Up until recently, he was not really known in the rest of the world, though. Everything changed this year with the release of his album You Will Not Die on which he copes with the conflict between his upbringing, religion and sexuality. The Guardian, BBC, GQ, Elle, Noisey or DIY singing the praises of him in their reviews put the spotlight on the artist. According to the media, his album is electrifying, charming and has made the dancefloor “a place of tenderness”. Nakhane is going to confirm these statements at Trenčín Airport at the beginning of July. → read more

Since last Saturday, Monika Satková is no longer part of the Pohoda team. Welcome, Mrs Monika Matiašovská :)

Since last Saturday, Monika Satková is no longer part of the Pohoda team. Welcome, Mrs Monika Matiašovská :)

On Saturday afternoon, Monika said yes to her beloved Andrej in the Krasnanyʼs St. Sebastianʼs Cathedral. Besides the last name, the just married Matiašovskýs share the passion for running, hiking, table football, and especially for music (particularly singing): they met in the Pezinokʼs choir Ad Una Corda which now ornamented their wedding ceremony and reception with great songs and programme. The couple is not tuned just in the choir—they showed team spirit also in the table-football tournament before last yearʼs Pohoda, when nobody could stand a chance against their team called “Love from Pezinok”. We wish the just married couple to stay well tuned and harmonized every day of their life together. → read more
