Lola Marsh will complete their Slovak tour in September.

Immediately after having to cancel the remainder of Lola Marsh’s Slovak concerts due to the public health situation surrounding COVID-19, we began working on new dates together with the band and the venues. Their special relationship with Slovak fans and the strong desire to return was also expressed in an emotional post on the band’s Facebook page following the cancellations. After quick negotiations with the agents and the venues, we were able to secure new concert dates for the end of September. Lola Marsh will perform on 25.9 in Trencin’s Piano Club, on 27.9 in Bratislava’s Refinery Gallery and on 28.9 in Mestke Divadlo in Žilina. As a support act, the rescheduled concerts will also feature talented Trenčin-based singer Nina Kohoutová. Tickets can be purchased at www.pohodafestival.sk/en/shop. → read more

Jenny Hval at Pohode 2020

Jenny Hval at Pohode 2020

Pohoda 2020 will also see a distinctive representative of Scandinavian songwriting, Jenny Hval. In September 2019, she released her seventh studio album titled The Practice of Love. The album is “a deep dive into what it means to grow older, to question one’s relationship to the earth and one’s self, and to hold a magnifying glass over the notion of what intimacy can mean.” Pitchfork listed the album in their category of “Best New Music” and we will gladly add Jenny to the list of amazing singer-songwriters you can see at Trenčín Airport in summer. → read more

The Soul Rebels at Pohoda 2020

The Soul Rebels at Pohoda 2020

Pohoda 2020 will dance also to the music of eight-member brass band from New Orleans, The Soul Rebels. The band plays mainly soul, jazz, funk, and hip-hop, and they also enjoy themselves at concerts doing covers of rock and pop hits. The Soul Rebels have been on the scene for a decade now, but their popularity rocketed mainly last year thanks to NPRʼs Tiny Desk gigs, a headline set at TEDx, and their appearance at The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. They have performed with artists such as Lauryn Hill, Katy Perry, Nas, G-Eazy, Macy Gray, Portugal. The Man, GZA, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, DMX, Metallica, and Marilyn Manson. They have just released Poetry In Montion, which the Offbeat portal has described as catchy, vibrant, energetic and polished. → read more

Murman Tsuladze at Pohoda 2021

Murman Tsuladze at Pohoda 2021

"Where are we? At the ball of countrymen in Horné Štitáre? We were whispering among ourselves...It didn't take long (one undone button on the singer's shirt) and these wedding imposters or entertainment weirdos amazed us," our colleague Tereza Maco recalls the concert of Georgian band Murman Tsuladze at Eurosonic The group brings together French electronics, African rhythms and their Georgian roots. Last month they released a video for 'La Flemme de Danser' which, according to The Quietus, “captures their natural humour and their rebellious spirit as they take to the streets of Paris to dance their way between police and protesters.“ The magazine adds: “Murman Tsuladze are the first port of call for Fat White Family when they’re looking for a good time in Paris.” Their show at Pohoda 2021 will also happen thanks to our participation in the European Talent Exchange Program (ETEP). → read more

Thank you for the fantastic atmosphere at the Slovak pub festival concerts

Thank you for the fantastic atmosphere at the Slovak pub festival concerts

We originally hoped that at least a few pubs and a few bands would join the cause. Finally, as for the number of performances, Slovenská krčma (The Slovak Pub Festival) became an event comparable to Pohoda. Over the past two weeks, 150 bands delivered almost 200 performances within 114 events in 100 pubs across Slovakia. You could also enjoy the atmosphere of the concerts on Friday through a unique live broadcast from all the pubs that was joined by Aktuality.sk, Týždeň, Denník N, NOIZZ, Artforum, Hudba.sk and ZOMRI as well. It was on Friday when the President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Čaputová visited one of the pubs. However, most importantly, all the pubs, artists, bands involved, and especially the concert attenders showed that most of the pub frequenters in Slovakia are not racists and do not identify with fascist views. → read more
