Sophie

Sophie

A Los Angeles-based UK artist Sophie is one of the most sought-after electronic dance music producers and we have a first-hand experience. It was a few years back when maestro Žltý introduced us to her interesting videos with even more interesting music. And since then we have been waiting – until this year. Sophie, previously playing her sets as a mysterious artist – now comes secret-free to Pohoda 2018. She has produced for stars such as Madonna, Vincent Staples, MØ, Nicki Minaj or Charli XCX. Her hit “Lemonade” was named one of the best singles of 2014 by The Washington Post, Resident Advisor, Complex and Pitchfork. Last fall, she used her voice in her song for the first time and, also for the first time, revealed her face in a music video. Shortly after the March European premiere of her new show in London, also thanks to the collaboration with DIY magazine, you will get a chance to see her at Pohoda, where she will make the SLSP Space Arena dance during her Live Set. → read more

Schnellertollermeier

Schnellertollermeier

Their previous album X was featured in Wall Street Journal’s “12 Best Albums of 2015”. These graduates from Swiss and Scandinavian jazz schools merge jazz, minimalism and post-rock into a new form. Schnellertollermeier destroy boundaries of genres, ideas and expectations which Rob Mallows confirms in his review for London Jazz News when he says: “they certainly made an impression on me, in much the same way a wrecking ball makes an impression on the side of a building.” Schnellertollermeier are coming to smash music boundaries at Pohoda 2018, too. → read more

Jade Bird

Jade Bird

A 20-year-old UK artist Jade Bird is included in Rolling Stone and BBC’s (Sound of 2018) lists of artists you need to know. She released her first EP just six months back and today has more than a million monthly listeners on Spotify already. Journalists compare her to the likes of First Aid Kit, Alanis Morissette, Joni Mitchell or Patti Smith. We saw her at this year’s Eurosonic. An optimistic young girl with guitar who fills the whole club up after first tones. Jade has fantastic songs, amazing voice and creates atmosphere that we are glad to welcome at Pohoda 2018. → read more

VIDEO: Lola Marsh – Čerešne

The Lola Marshʼ performing of the song “Čerešne” by Milan Lasica and Jaro Filip was a very nice surprise and a cherry on the top of yesterdayʼs magical evening. The song was recommended by friend Nina Kohoutová from Trenčín, and we, too, got surprised. We had goose bumps during the rehearsal in the hotel, in the backstage, not to mention the concert itself. As Yaeli was singing, the 1,500 people in the hall were no obstacle for the song to remain intimate, and the reactions were amazing—complete silence in some places, followed by a wild applause and deep impression. It was an unforgettable experience. Thank you Lola Marsh, thank you to all who have helped us in any way, and thank you to all who attended the concert. Idiotape

Idiotape

“Imagine Cut Copy, Daft Punk, and Chromeo having a South Korean child”, is what MTW Iggy wrote about another act of Pohoda 2018, the band Idiotape. Three outstanding musicians from Seoul have successfully blended electronic music with house, Korean music, and metal. The band won the Korean Music Awardsʼ Best Dance & Electronic Album for their debut 11111101. In 2015, they co-headlined the South Korean Valley Rock Festival; besides the biggest events in Asia, they have also performed at the Glastonbury and Exit festivals, and twice at SXSW. Their powerful drums and punk riffs played on analogue synthesisers will please both the fans of dance as well as rock music. → read more

Lucidvox

Lucidvox

The Observer sings the praises of Russian band Lucidvox’s music in the review; Louder Than War names them as a “totally brilliant” band in section “Band of the Day”. According to The Quietus, “they are well on the way to being legendary.” Music and great gigs of these four energetic Moscow-based women enchanted us at last year’s Moscow Music Week where Monika discovered them. They will be playing their psychedelic rock mixed with Russian folk elements at Pohoda 2018.   → read more

Coals

Coals

Even though they are only twenty something, Polish band Coals have already played amazing live sessions for the American radio station KEXP (recorded at OFF Festival and Iceland Airwaves). Their ethereal dream pop drawing from electronic music and folk has been praised by magazines The Quietus and American Under the Radar. The up-and-coming musicians from Polish alternative scene, Coals, have been on our radar for some time now and they put on a very convincing show the last time we saw them at Eurosonic. → read more
