Mišo Peal is another interesting figure in the local electronic music scene to perform at Pohoda 2018. You may remember him from nowadays non-existent cult vinylshop Records. He has been included in various dance and non-dance events, has been performing in Bratislavaʼs Subclub for many years, but he is mainly a DJ. The youngest of the old ones, partly in the world of standard and dynamic banging techno, partly in new alternative spheres marked with EBM and other types of electronic music. That is why he, one of the few, appears at both classical techno evenings and at events with experimental music as well. In about 15 years of activity, he has really appeared in many places, including in the Berlinʼs Tresor. Last year, he rolled his show like a king on the Laug Techno Bau stage after the Schwefelgelb concert, so we moved him this year to the SLSP arena. → read more
Pohoda will have also the Argentinian DJ Sonido Tupinamba. The native of the Andes currently active in Barcelona, is also a well-known cultural agitator and the moderator of Radio Dublab. After festivals such as Glastonbury, BUE, and Primavera, she will play her afro-tropical set also at the Trenčín Airport. → read more
Pohoda will also see a phenomenal singer of Ruthenian songs, Štefan Štec. Štefan attended Pohoda several times; he organized a few workshops at House of Dance tent and, last year, was part of an amazing concert during Sun Welcoming. At the beginning of May 2018, he released a debut album titled Poleťiv bym na kraj svita and a day after played a powerful gig at Concert for Martina and Ján in Gregorovce. On this album, Štefan presents unique ancient songs from Slovak-Polish-Ukrainian border area. As he says, with his music, he would like to tear down the borders between countries as well as between people. → read more
Tolstoys won the Debut of the Year Award at the current Radio Heards for the album “Botanika”. The unmistakable voice and sensitive expression of the singer Ela Tolstová, in combination with the melancholic indie-pop melodies, precise rhythm section, and interesting arrangements (violin, piano, and samples) quickly won a lot of fans. We discovered them basically coincidentally when they were playing in Ráno na eFemku radio show, only a few minutes before we were going to announce Solange. It is no coincidence, however, that after last yearʼs Pohoda, Pohoda Party concerts, showcases Bush, Ment, Nouvelle Prague, and Eurosonic, Tolstoys will play also at Pohoda 2018. → read more
Only two names from the Slovak scene received two criticsʼ awards in Radio Head_Awards: Jana Kirschner and Nvmeri. Nvmeri previously won this award in the same formation as now (Pišta Královič, Palo Javorník and Miro Tuchyňa) under the name “The Uniques”; they received the second award only a few months ago at the tenth edition of the “Radio Heads” for the album I don't think so. Hudba.sk wrote about the album: “The result is an original sound that no other Slovak bands have—the sound of world music (another cliché, but in the case of Nvmeri, it is 100% true) with a significant influence of old and current black music.” The album was premiered live and publicly release at last yearʼs Pohoda and we are delighted to be able to hear fantastic songs such as “Art Of The Trial”, “Blue Church”, “Dynamite” and “Short Of Oxygen” also at the 22nd edition of the festival. → read more
Interactive narratives—instructive, adventurous, and entertaining—will be offered by theatre and dance performances for children at Pohoda. They will cover topics such as “the preciousness of the time a family can spend together”, “the mysterious being that is connected to home,” and you will “learn the paper adventures of the enchanted prince.” For the littlest ones, there will be Toddling way through the Land of touch and fairy”; all will be charmed and amused by Talostan. → read more
At ZSE Family Park, your kids can learn circus pieces, knit, spin the potterʼs pallet, make musical instruments and play them, practice family yoga with parents, try Montessori activities, and find out how to make brushing teeth fun every day. Besides that, the kids will be able to “give the life a dry run”, shed light on dreams, and listen to books. There will also be nature oriented workshops. → read more
“Pohoda is an absolutely family-oriented festival with the highest concentration of great guys per one airport meter,” wrote the actress and moderator Kristína Tormová (until recently Farkašová) in her book “Stále som mama” (Iʼm Still a Mom). The first generation of “Pohodans” returns to the airport already with their children, last year there were almost two thousand kids. In fact, Pohoda is one of the largest childrenʼs festivals in Slovakia, not only with the number of kids but also with the great shows we have prepared for them. However, our selection does not have to correspond with yours, so we decided for another contest/challenge. Create a new playlist on Spotify, share your favourite songs from the Pohoda 2018 artists with friends, and you can win tickets to Pohoda. Three tickets will go to those three of you whose playlists will have the most followers on Monday 18 June at 10:00 am. All you have to do is to create a playlist named “Pohoda2018by”YOUR NAME/NICK” that will include at least 22 songs from the artists performing at the 22nd Pohoda. Songs must be added to the playlist between 31 May and 18 June (10:00). Send us the final status of the playlist as of Monday at 10:00 am in a message on the Facebook page of Pohoda.
