Kevin Morby at Pohoda 2022

Kevin Morby at Pohoda 2022

Another name in the list of confirmed artists of Pohoda 2022 is the great American folk-rock songwriter Kevin Morby. Pitchfork's review of his album Singing Saw compares him to artists like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. Six fantastic albums over the past eight years have turned him into one of the most crucial songwriters of the decade in his early thirties. The Telegraph described his album Oh My God described as a spiritual album for a secular age that tries to distil a sense of the divine from the very act of making music. In the fall of 2020, he released album Sundowner, which, according to Pitchfork, brings “a vision of the Midwest that feels mythical and enormous.” Pitchfork appreciates about Morby in particular that he is extremely receptive to the world around him: “His observations require perception. Plenty of what he sees is mundane, but it’s Morby’s gift that the quotidian never feels boring.” → read more

Mezerg at Pohoda 2022

Mezerg at Pohoda 2022

Pohoda 2022 to host Mezerg, an extremely entertaining and talented multi-instrumentalist, sound experimenter, and master of improvisation. This French music showman became one of the winners of Music Moves Europe 2022 yesterday, and a concise quote from the jury members on his behalf speaks for itself: “He is doing something crazy! Good show, good music, good at all!” Mezerg plays mainly dance and electronic music oscillating between funk, house, and acid techno. Instead of pre-recorded samples, you get to see live brilliantly performed instrumental pieces; we ourselves witnessed them at Eurosonic at the beginning of 2020. We danced through the whole show in the first row and left soaking in sweat. The dramaturgist of our club, Matwe, was also excited, and described the artist briefly and clearly: “Genius!” → read more

Faux Real at Pohoda 2022

Pohoda 2022 will host also Franco-American brothers Elliott and Virgile Arndt and their “anti-rock project” Faux Real. Their Faux Realism combines elements of post-punk, glam rock, and contemporary R&B with a unique sense of humour, boy band tropes, and a forward-thinking approach to modern pop culture. According to i-D magazine, they fuse the sound and aesthetic of disco with the chaos of a punk show. “Faux Real is a joy. The best quarantine karaoke! Paraphrasing their lyrics, thanks to them, we have faced the emotional compressions of the past two years with more ease,“ says about the Faux Real booking our graphics department, whose members Terezka and Gabko can no longer wait for their concert at the Trenčín airport. You will be able to see their concert thanks to our participation ESNS exchange program.   → read more

Bendik Giske at Pohoda 2022

Bendik Giske at Pohoda 2022

Another name of Pohoda 2022 is the Norwegian saxophonist and artist Bendik Giske. He is known for his great interconnection of music and movement and expressive use of physicality and vulnerability. While the sound of his debut Surrender can be described as stripped to the core: no overdubs, looping, or effects, just his body, breath, the saxophone and a resonant physical space, plus lots of microphones, this year’s album also has a significant share of electronic music, which is also the result of cooperation with producer André Bratten. → read more

Russian electro-hip-hop band Aigel at Pohoda 2022

Russian electro-hip-hop band Aigel at Pohoda 2022

Pohoda 2022 will also feature the Russian electro-hip-hop band Aigel. AIGEL are: Aigel Gaisina - a poet and singer from Kazan and Ilya Baramiya - a beatmaker from St.Petersburg famous for the last 20 years for participation in various electronic projects. In October, the UK magazine The Line of Best Fit praised their performance at Tallinn Music Week: "On stage, Gaisina’s charismatic presence holds the audience hostage as she sings, raps or speaks her poems in Russian and Tatar with conviction, honesty and pain so powerful that all language barriers seem to break down. But it would not give Baramiya the credit he deserves to overlook how his deep groove fills the whole room and gets the crowds moving." → read more

The Doma dobre festival to go online from the dormitory and then from the artists' beds already this Sunday

For the first time ever, Doma dobre will be a multi-day event. Already this Sunday, 12th December, you can watch the livestream from the St. Vincent de Paul dormitory featuring the performance of FVLCRVM. The stream session will also include a debate. The organisers will then share songs by artists recorded from the comfort of their beds on the Facebook pages of Pohoda and Depaul Slovensko at 7 pm each day until the 1th of January. This is to symbolically point out that even an “ordinary bed” is not a matter of course for many people. You will hear songs by Lola Marsh, Jana Kirschner, Bazzookas, Midi Lidi, Katarzia, Chiki liki tu-a, Tolstoys, Štefan Štec, Ventolin, Nina Kohoutova, Lasky, Nina Rosa, Fyasco, Timea, Raptor Koch, Kristin Lash & Jacob Grey, Lomnické Čháve, God & Eve, Quatro Emocione, Braňo Jobus, and 52 Hertz Whale. On Sunday, 26th December, we will return to the dormitory, where we will end the eighth edition of Doma dobre with carols performed by Muzička at 4 pm. → read more
