Jamie Cullum at Pohoda 2018

Jamie Cullum at Pohoda 2018

Perhaps nobody has popularized jazz in the 21st century as much as Jamie Cullum. The historically best-selling UK jazz musician, a piano virtuoso, an unmistakable singer, and performer became famous with his fantastic adaptations of the famous songs of all genres, but especially with his spectacular performances. At his concerts, the grand piano turns into a giant cajon or even a jumping bridge, while he performs fantastic piano solos, beatbox, uses effect loops, and brilliantly cooperates with the band and the audience. His concerts do not multiply the album experience, they enhance it. You can come get the first-hand experience at the 22nd Pohoda. → read more

Knower

Knower

“Knower will be leavin’ ya’ll on your knees, beggin’ for more.” This is not our but Quincy Jones’ opinion on this fantastic Californian band. Yes, that Quincy Jones who was a producer of the best-selling album of all time, Michael Jackson’s Thriller and of hundreds of other records. Two years back they collaborated with Snarky Puppy; last year they opened for Red Hot Chili Peppers on their European tour; in August, they recorded a video promoting their all-star LIVE band on Facebook that was shared by 33,000 people (with millions of views). The excellent electro-jazz-funk band Knower are coming to Pohoda 2018. → read more

Glass Animals at Pohoda 2018

Glass Animals at Pohoda 2018

“Intelligent pop” is the expression that many of us would think of as an oxymoron, but the thing is true for the work of the great British band Glass Animals. The Czech Radio Wave rated their first album Zaba the debut of the year in the album of the week chart. At first, the band was compared to Alt-J or Wild Beasts, but their second album, How to Be a Human Being, definitely led them out of the shadow of the above artists. Pieces of real stories and their splendid fictitious elaboration have been acclaimed by MixMag, The Guardian, and Skinny, and the record earned them a Mercury Prize nomination. Following events such as Glastonbury, Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Lollapalooza, one of the hottest British bands today will appear also at Pohoda 2018. → read more

Donny Benét

Donny Benét

Thick moustache, cyclamen jacket, turquoise shorts, best of 80's sound banks, slapping bass, “sexi-sax”, drum machines, hedonistic songs, and a beach nightclub atmosphere where Matlock arrived to investigate another murder: a traveller in time and space, an inimitable imitator, a multi-instrumentalist, and, according to theaureview.com, also the sexiest man of the music industry, Donny Benét, will present the best of musical anachronism also at Pohoda 2018. → read more

Bolo nás jedenásť – Live at Pohoda 2017

Bolo nás jedenásť – Live at Pohoda 2017

The legendary album “Bolo nás jedenásť” was played live for the first time ever at Pohoda 2017. The work of the trio Lasica—Satinský—Filip offers a perfect combination of humour, insight, composition genius, and virtuosity. The live version of this album cannot be described just as a great concert: it was literally a great event. And although the magical atmosphere of this exceptional gig cannot be perfectly transferred through speakers and screens, we can at least try to bring it closer to those who did not make it to the concert, and refresh it for all those who have attended. → read more

A Pre-PF 2018 Thank You for Pf 2017

A Pre-PF 2018 Thank You for Pf 2017

At the end of this year again, we prepared the closing credits of our festival. Each name was a treasure. The past year ended up with the historical seven nominations for the European Festival Awards, and it would not have been possible without the hard work of the people listed below. Of course, we are excited to thank the annual winners of the best festival visitor polls, and we are pretty sure to be winners even without a nomination... :)   → read more

Bazzookas at Pohoda 2018

Bazzookas at Pohoda 2018

Before Pohoda 2016, hardly anyone here in Slovakia knew who Bazzookas are, but when the festival ended, this band was one of those that got the most positive feedback. It seems that the attraction was mutual: At the last year’s Reeperbahn, the band awarded Pohoda the Bazzookas Award for the best festival they’ve ever played. What is typical of the band is a school bus around which they create a fantastic pop-up party. To really see what the band is about, check this video from Pohoda 2016 out... → read more
