Childrenʼs Days at Pohoda – music, sounds, voices

Childrenʼs Days at Pohoda – music, sounds, voices

“Pohoda is an absolutely family-oriented festival with the highest concentration of great guys per one airport meter,” wrote the actress and moderator Kristína Tormová (until recently Farkašová) in her book “Stále som mama” (Iʼm Still a Mom). The first generation of “Pohodans” returns to the airport already with their children, last year there were almost two thousand kids. In fact, Pohoda is one of the largest childrenʼs festivals in Slovakia, not only with the number of kids but also with the great shows we have prepared for them. You can see great concerts, theatres, workshops, dances, and magic again this year at ZSE Family Park... → read more

Diego at Pohoda 2018

The band Diego has been playing since 2004, with the first single “I Know Myself” and the eponymous debut Diego released shortly after they got together. Their second album, Peripheries, became the album of the year 2009 in the Radio_Head Awards poll. Apart from the many solo and festival performances, they were also the opening act for Editors and Zita Swoon. After eight years of waiting, the indie-rock band released their third album Et In Arcadia Diego that was preceded by excellent singles “A time for everything” and “What Now?” at the end of last year. They presented it at the great autumn tour and will continue to do so at summer festivals, stopping also at the Trenčín Airport. → read more

NAH

NAH

It all started with an e-mail from the agent of the band ho99o9, whose engagement on the stage we wanted to see for the third time in a row: “Ho99o9 are not available but if you do like them, be sure to listen to NAH”. So we did listen and did not hesitate to act. NAH is the solo project of Philadelphia multi-genre artist Michul Kuun and is a product of the local rich avant-garde scene. After his last yearʼs debut TRUE BEAUTY (AND OTHER THINGS) ノ ノ, the portal Tiny Mix Tapes described him as an absolute percussion power plant. This fruitful sound designer creates a dynamic synthesis of structured noise in confrontation with percussion rhythms. He only needs a set of drums and a variety of samplers for his live shows where he combines the frenetic energy balancing on the verge of violence and playful chaos. This video may tell you more than words when it comes to his live engagement on the stage;) https://youtu.be/d1mAgdHY2p0 → read more

Czechoslovak Philharmonic at Pohoda 2018

Czechoslovak Philharmonic at Pohoda 2018

Czechoslovakia had a common football and ice hockey representation, but there were two philharmonic orchestras—music won over sport 2:1 :) Five years ago, we managed to make true for the first time the idea of a common body interpreting the top works of composers from both countries at Pohoda. Now, at the time of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the first republic uniting the two countries, the top musicians of both philharmonic orchestras will join their forces again. Conducted by Rastislav Štúr, they will play the state anthems of Czechoslovakia (and the Czech and Slovak anthems at the end), Smetanaʼs Vltava, a selection of dances by Antonín Dvořák, and Musica Concertante by Marián Varga. The art rock legend Collegium Musicum will join the Philharmonics to perform the latter piece and the performers will include Fedor Frešo, Dušan Hájek, František Griglák, and Martin Valihora, The concert will be dedicated to the founding member of Collegium Musicum, Marián Varga, who, sadly, attended Pohoda last year for the last time; this concert, however, surely will not be the last time he will return to our festival through his music. → read more

Pohoda among Top festival picks according to Gigwise, Humo and Mixmag

Pohoda strengthens its international reputation appearing in another batch of top festival lists put together by renowned media. British music portal Gigwise, Belgian culture magazine Humo, German music portal Tonspion list our festival in their top picks and the French Mixmag published an article named “5 Reasons Why Pohoda Is One of the Best Festivals in Europe”. This is happening just a few weeks after Pohoda made it to the lists revealed by dailies The Guardian, The Telegraph and Metro and appeared in the report by British music portal The 405. The reasons why our festival appears in these lists makes us even happier than the fact that it’s been selected: uncompromising line-up, top service, amazing orchestration and atmosphere and, most of all, fantastic friendly visitors. → read more

Midi Lidi at Pohoda 2018

Midi Lidi at Pohoda 2018

Thanks to Petr Marek’s dance moves and the fact that he “likes cooking”, Midi Lidi are extremely popular in our office. Each year, our female colleagues from the agency give an ultimatum to us saying they will not go to the airport without Midi Lidi. Together with the rest of the agency, they appreciate the art of staying on top of things this five-member trio show in their music. This affection is obviously mutual: As Prokop Holoubek told magazine Frontman: “To spend an entire weekend at the festival is not something I usually do. In fact, there are only two exceptions where I’m willing to do this. The first one is Beseda u Bigbítu and the second one is Pohoda in Trenčín. When we play there or I take care of one of my bands there, I like to stay there for the whole event. I think that these two festivals are also among the few where I would go as a visitor.” Our visitors will get to see Midi Lidi again in six weeks at Pohoda 2018.     → read more
