21 Slovak and Czech artists to play Eurosonic 2019 revealed

21 Slovak and Czech artists to play Eurosonic 2019 revealed

Eurosonic 2019 represents the biggest opportunity in our history to showcase Slovak and Czech music. At the beginning of this year, the organizers of the most prestigious European showcase festival decided that the next edition would focus on music from our region. More than 200 bands from our countries applied on Eurosonic’s website by the end of August 2018. 133 applications were sent from Slovakia. This was indeed a challenging task for the main festival booker as, based on what he said, this meant not only to go through a huge quantity of applications, but, most of all, to decide among exceptionally talented artists. Instead of 16 promised spots, Eurosonic decided to give a chance to 21 artists from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The following artists from Slovakia will be playing Groningen, The Netherlands, in January: Isama Zing, Autumnist, Katarína Máliková, Tittingur, Nvmeri, B-Complex, Our Stories, The Ills, Thisnis and Möbius. The Czech music scene will be represented by Hellwana, Thom Artway, Bohemian Cristal Instrument, Zabelov Group, Lazer Viking, Lenny, Circus Brothers, Manon Meurt, Floex + Tom Hodge, Pipes And Pints and Mydy Rabycad. → read more

Ho99o9, Pražský výběr, Jana Kirschner Komorne, Shortparis, Vec & Škrupo with the band, Dybbuk and Tittingur at the Concert for the attentive

This year's Concert for the Attentive will return to its former size by the capacity as well as by the stars who will perform. The American hardcore-hip-hop ensemble Ho99o9 that enchanted the 20th and 21st Pohoda will perform at the Refinery Gallery. Pražský výběr (Prague Selection) and Dybbuk - bands banned by the communists, or the Russian band Shortparis (whose performance described the boss of the Talinn Music Week as one of the most memorable concerts of the festival) will also come to Bratislava. Jana Kirschner with a string quartet, Vec with the band or one of the "club" discoveries of Pohoda 2017, Tittingur, playing the so-called maximal techno, will represent the home scene. The concert will be under one roof with the partner White Crows Evening (Večer bielych vrán) this year. It will include the awards ceremony to recognise civic bravery and also musical performances.   Tickets: Concert for the attentive + White crows evening (35 €) www.pohodafestival.sk/en/product/concert-for-the-attentive-white-crows-evening-17-11-2018 Concert for the attentive (25 €) www.pohodafestival.sk/en/product/concert-for-the-attentive-17-11-2018 White crows evening (12 €) www.pohodafestival.sk/en/product/white-crows-evening-17-11-2018  → read more

The opening act of the Bastille concert will be Lewis Capaldi

The opening act of the Bastille concert will be Lewis Capaldi

The opening act of the Bastille concert will be one of the greatest discoveries of the British scene, Lewis Capaldi. Lewis began playing guitar when he was nine; three years later, he performed unofficially in Glasgow clubs. At the end of March 2017, he released his single “Bruises”, which instantly went viral in streaming services. He was the fastest to gain 25 million hearings on Spotify out of all artists without a publisher ever. In October last year, he released EP “Bloom” that featured the cooperation with Malay (producer of artists such as Frank Ocean, John Legend, and Alicia Keys); the BBC then included him in BBC Musicʼs Sound of 2018, as well as BBC Radioʼs 1 Brit List. Lewis also won the Scottish Alternative Music Awards and the Scottish Music Awards. Only 22 years old, this musician with an extraordinary voice composes songs at a running pace and wins fans all over the world even faster. We believe that he will speak to many new ones also on February 20 at the Refinery Gallery. → read more

Donʼt get tricked, only buy tickets in Pohoda shop and from our official vendors

Donʼt get tricked, only buy tickets in Pohoda shop and from our official vendors

Tickets for our festival and events organized by Pohoda appeared again in the offer of the "secondary ticketing" companies which are not sales partners of the Pohoda festival. For example, tickets for the Bastille concert are offered at a cost of 53–57€ (an offer on the VIAGOGO page, for example), which is almost 63% more than for the authentic tickets on our website (www.pohodafestival.sk/en/shop). As we can see written in small letters below the offer of the "secondary ticketing" companies, you might pay other significant fees for the ticket. In our testing purchase, we were to pay 154€  for two tickets, while the price of two tickets in our shop is €70, which means more than DOUBLE THE PRICE of the tickets (up to 120%). We also found different ticket options, which is nonsense, as there are only standing tickets for a single price. As an organizer of the festival, we cannot guarantee the authenticity, nor delivery of such purchased tickets from the "secondary ticketing" companies. You can find the list of our sellers here: www.pohodafestival.sk/en/shop. → read more

Footage of the Donny Benét show at Orange stage

Footage of the Donny Benét show at Orange stage

The discovery of Pohoda 2018, Donny Benét is comming back to Slovakia in three weeks. Before the 22nd edition of our festival, only a few fans of the current lo-fi disco scene heard about this phenomenal Australian showman and musician. After the festival, Pohodans started his official Slovak fanclub and he also received (similarly to The Chemical Brothers) a praising solo review at the Aktuality.sk portal. It said that this time machine produced a romantic return to the 80s and a show that will be remembered for a long time and, mainly, with a smile on the face. Thanks to the autumn Pohoda in clubs, you can do more than just remember: right after his Australian tour, this bon vivant will fly to Europe again in November and will perform in Brno, Bratislava, Zvolen, Banská Bystrica and Košice on 6—10th November 2018. This is how his second show at this years Pohoda looked like... https://goo.gl/wNRM9b → read more

Recordings from Blossoms concert live at Pohoda 2018

All members of the band were born in the same maternity hospital, they grew up in a two-kilometre radius, and they made it to the top of the British charts—starting in the bass guitaristʼs grandpaʼs scaffolding warehouse. Blossoms received nominations for the Mercury Prize, NME, and Brit Awards for their eponymous debut album. This was their concert at Pohoda Festival 2018. : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pur9-XA5Jls&feature=youtu.be → read more

Aftermovie Pohoda 2018 + Ticket competition

Aftermovie Pohoda 2018 + Ticket competition

When the director of Pohoda Acoustic session, Boris, saw the last song of Jamie Cullum’s concert, he immediately knew he wanted it as background music for the aftermovie from Pohoda 2018. Jamie’s energetic take on his song Mixtape with the fantastic reaction from Pohoda attenders was one of the many highlights of this year. It’s impossible to capture all the beautiful situations in one video and that is the reason the Roadtrip Studio focused on every year’s unquestionable highlight – the great atmosphere created by our best festivalgoers. www.facebook.com/pohoda.festival/videos/1098536820322750 → read more
