The opening day of the Pohoda in the Air festival will also include the first Afghan women's orchestra—Zohra, which excelled at Pohoda 2019. As there are strict measures in place in the country, the orchestra will not play together, but several of its members have sent us their musical greetings. Their last yearʼs concert and the following Slovakia tour perhaps best illustrated the importance of freedom for art as well as the contribution of art to freedom. That is why, instead of the classic documentary about Pohoda, we made the film Orchestra from the Land of Silence. Film director Lucia Kašová shot it at the concerts of the orchestra. In the Pohoda in the Air line-up, three “visitors” will have the chance to perform. Just as welcoming the Sun is an integral part of our festival, so are also “street musicians” playing the pianos at the Pohoda venue. We would like to bring both of these traditions also to Pohoda in the Air, which is why we are calling this contest for pianists. Below this post, upload a comment with a video of you playing the piano (it can be anything, your own work, a cover version...). From all the videos, we will then select the dozen with the largest number of likes. A professional jury composed of pianist Lucie Chuťková, Dorota Nvotová, and Braňo Jobus will then choose from them three winners who will play live at Pohoda in the Air (during welcoming the Sun on Saturday morning). The Saturday program will be opened by the only public concert of the Pohoda in the Air festival—on the Trenčín main square, The Chamber Orchestra of the City of Trenčín will perform in the world premiere works by Vrbovskí Víťazi in arrangements of Slavo Solovic. With this concert, Vrbovskí víťazi will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band's founding and the Chamber Orchestra of the city of Trenčín will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its establishment. → read more

At the Pohoda in the Air festival, we will work primarily with the emptiness of the Trenčín Airport. The exception will be two visual art works: one of them will be Breathing – The Celebrating of Air (1970) by Stanislav Filko, which the artist himself also called “Wind in a 6m pressure ball” and later “Pneumatic heart” and “Breathing-RespirationSF”. According to art historian Lucia Gregorová Stach, the works combine Filko's creative approaches across a whole decade and, at the same time, outline his future creative direction: life energy and body (red biology), the universe and its pulsation (blue cosmology), and the indication of a new spirituality (white ontology). We can exhibit Breathing – The Celebrating of Air thanks to the Slovak National Gallery. → read more

Pohoda in the Air will also welcome heart-opening, great musicians and entertainers Bazzookas. The crew that doesn't care if they are playing on a big stage, on a bus, in a shelter for the homeless, or online from the Netherlands. DJ and producer Nina Pixel will also perform at Pohoda in the Air at the locator area. Matwe, the curator of our club, describes her: “Nina reveals a link of rural traditions through the prism of her electronic compositional world. She analyzes and observes such cultural patterns on the audio-visual level, and explores whether they could be redefined in any way, including through queer and feminist forms integrated into the story of the current generation. She then creates a new, her own version of experimental ʻfolkloreʼ, in the form of stories and traditions retold into electronic language, using modified tools and field records.” → read more

Pohoda in the Air will give new names on the local scene the opportunity to play as well. Bratislava-based band Haďáci is one such example. They play energetic avant-garde punk rap with heavier grunge riffs. They revealed their first videoclip for their track “Kosti” at the end of February and are currently working on their debut album. → read more

The Friday program of Pohoda in the Air will begin with the Czech big band The Tap Tap and the Kilometer Dance project. They played Pohoda 2016 and this time they will perform on perhaps the most barrier-free stage—the runway of the Trenčín Airport. Their concert will also include the festival's only dance performance. Radoslav Piovarči of EnKnapGroup will present the Kilometer Dance by Katarína Zagorski over an empty runway and other nooks and crannies of the festival in a special adaptation for Pohoda in the Air.  → read more

Pohoda in the Air will host Raptor Koch with his 50th album entitled The First Album. Raptor started with fairy tales Havko Piťko, continued with the project Peacar and Pas mech aliby, from which the current Raptor Koch emerged. He also won over the attenders of the Dutch festival Pinguin Radio Showcase and last year's Pohoda with songs such as Veľký pán slon, Mucha Jara, or cover versions Nepobočkana a Zvieratá. → read more

The Martinus Literary Tent is opening its gates at Pohoda for the eighth time. The programme was again prepared in cooperation with literarnyklub.sk, this time, however, in a virtual form and in unusual places. Writers Balla, Vlado Janček and Laco Kerata will perform at the Literary Circus of KK Bagala, books will be read by Zuzana Fialová and Robo Roth. FCVK KVLT, Fejbs, Modré hory, Boy band will be featured in LiteRAPture. Jakub Jošt and Oliver Rehák will play three chess-literary-philosophical games with Ján Markoš and poems wll be read at the airport control towers. → read more
