Liraz, who is one of the confirmed performers of Pohoda 2021, dominated the renowned charts focused on World Music at the beginning of the year. Her album Zen made it into Transglobal World Music Chart and World Music Charts Europe (WMCE). In January, she was at the top of both charts, in February she again dominated WMCE and was in second place in the Transglobal World Music Chart. She has remained in the TOP 10 World Music Charts Europe for the third month in a row with her new album currently being number nine. → read more
A few weeks after Thom Yorke Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes cancelled their summer tour in the United States, their management informed us that they would not perform also in Europe this June and July: “Following the government’s forecast of the Covid-19 pandemic, we regret to announce the cancellation of all Thom Yorke Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes solo and festival performances in the Europe.” → read more
They are young, they study music composition and they like contemporary classical music, jazz and artpop. Despite the fact that they managed to play only one concert, they have already been praised by Kevin Cole from the American radio station KEXP and Michal Kaščák, who described their performance as one of the strongest moments of the new show Klubtúra. Donny Benét has announced that the May European tour is postponed to May 2022 due to the still complicated situation with the pandemic. This also applies to his planned concert at Pohoda dni_FM, at which the Australian showman, great musician and darling of Pohoda visitors will perform on May 6, 2022. Today, we have launched the official website dedicated to the documentary Orchestra from the Land of Silence about the first Afghan all-female orchestra, Zohra. Apart from the trailer and behind-the-scenes videos, the website features information about the documentary and its distribution at festivals. By the way, Orchestra from the Land of Silence currently has screenings scheduled at two film festivals in the US. Since February 12, it’s been a part of the Providence International Children’s Film Festival program and, starting today, it forms part of the 15th edition of the Seattle Children and Youth Film Festival as well. The digital release is planned on March 14 and the album vinyl release will follow soon after that (the album cover was designed by our colleague Tereza Maco). The first part of Black Angels Songs was performed at the Concert for the Attentive on November 17, and you can watch the live stream of the second part during its premiere on March 14, 2021. → read more
The feasibility of open-air events during the pandemic has been discussed extensively among the experts and the organizers of Pohoda, as well as the organizers of other events since March. In the spring of last year, professors Krištúfková and Štefkovičová helped to adopt a decision to postpone the festival. Since the beginning of this year, experts have been suggesting that the situation will be compatible with the organization of the festival in early summer 2021 – of course, while following many production, security, communication and hygiene measures aimed at minimizing the risk of virus spread. We have been communicating very closely with Richard Kollár and Alexandra Bražinová from the Science Helps – Covid-19 initiative, and several inspiring ideas have already emerged from the meeting. At the same time, the organizers of cultural events in Slovakia do not sit idly by waiting for the situation to improve. In January, they offered to help state authorities and local governments in order to speed up the vaccination process as much as possible through the We Wish Slovakia Good Health initiative. → read more
