The opening act for the Lola Marsh concerts will be Nina Kohout

The opening act for the Lola Marsh concerts will be a talented singer from Trenčín, Nina Kohout. Nina studies at the prestigious London music school The BRIT School, alma mater also to Adele and Amy Winehouse. Last year she won the Discovery of the Year award at the Radio Head Awards and at the beginning of this year she released her debut EP Pandemonium that was very well received. She will shortly introduce it also in Slovakia, including performances at Lola Marsh concerts. She has already performed with this band, at Pohoda 2016. We are looking forward to their pleasant concert “reunion” this Friday in Trenčín, on Saturday in Bratislava, and on Monday in Žilina. → read more

Lianne La Havas back to Pohoda with a new album and the band

Lianne La Havas back to Pohoda with a new album and the band

We only exceptionally repeat booking of foreign stars, yet sometimes we think it is necessary. The performance of the British neo-soul singer Lianne La Havas will fall into that category. In 2019, she won visitors to Pohoda performing alone with her guitar, and this year she will appear with the whole band and a new eponymous album. Her third studio album has had the best media response so far, bringing her the award for best album at last year’s Ivor Novello Awards, a nomination for the Brit Awards, and comparisons to r’n’b legends such as Jill Scott and Erykah Badu.  → read more

Stasik at Pohoda 2022

Stasik at Pohoda 2022

Pohoda 2022 will also host Ukrainian artist STASIK. It is a musical hip-hop project by war veteran from Donbas, activist, presenter, theatre and film actress Anastasia Shevchenko. She has worked at the well-known independent Dakh, theatre, starred in the film Chrysanthemum Holiday and in 2019 won the Young Talent Award at the Jager Music Awards (it was also awarded to artists such as IC3PEAK, Shortparis and Nina Kravitz). Each of her songs is a clear statement and she is willing to even tear her throat to be heard. Her songs and clips made one shiver already in 2019, and their power and topicality, unfortunately, were multiplied again by the war. → read more

Brutalismus 3000 at Pohoda 2022

Brutalismus 3000 at Pohoda 2022

Also the Berlin duo with Slovak-Greek roots, Brutalismus 3000, will make dance visitors to Pohoda 2022. Techno, punk, and sometimes even elements of hardstyle come together in a sound that defines the idea of what partying should look like in 2022. We were recommended Brutalismus 3000 by our alternative electronics dramaturgist, Matwe, who said: “We invited Brutalismus 3000 for a double-booking with Nočná and KC Hviezdne noci in Bytča last summer and it was one of the most unforgettable experiences for me, not only because I drove them back to the airport using crutches as a crooked, destroyed promoter. Coincidentally, Victoriaʼs grandma lives about 20 minutes away from Bytča, so we also managed to do a Sunday family visit, which was the icing on the cake of their two packed weekend sets, when they went absolutely to the limit of exhaustion. I can still see the moments from this weekend before my eyes, and I believe that all the people who took part in this weekend do as well. This is one of the most authentic dance music projects today, they give in all and they undoubtedly deserve the attention they are currently getting.” → read more

DakhaBrakha at Pohoda 2022

DakhaBrakha at Pohoda 2022

After twelve years, a major name in the world of worldmusic, Dakha Brakha, will return from Ukraine to Pohoda 2022. They refer to their work as ethno-chaos. It is a mixture of native Ukrainian folk music with some African-styles, Arab, Bulgarian, and Hungarian motifs, and instruments from around the world. In combination with beautiful polyphony, specific rhythms and atypical, varied instrumentation, they create unique unexpected music. The band was formed as a musical ensemble at the Ukrainian avant-garde theatre Dakh and these roots have left its mark on the band performances and aesthetics oscillating between alternative theatre and folk/world music concerts.  → read more

Pohoda 2022 to be held in full visitor capacity

Pohoda 2022 to be held in full visitor capacity

At the turn of March and April over the past two years, we informed about moving Pohoda for a later date: now we have significantly better news. We have always relied on the opinion of experts, and also this year we continue to consult with our favourite experts, Mária Štefkovičová and Zuzana Krištúfková. Based on our discussion and the fact that almost all restrictions by the Public Health Authority in connection with the covid have been lifted, we are pleased to announce that we will meet at the Trenčín airport in the full Pohoda version. We are preparing the festival in a similar form as in 2019, the capacity remains limited to 30,000 visitors, and, of course, we are working on many new things and improvements. This news was also confirmed by the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, which stated that capacity restrictions will not apply to summer festivals. Well, in just 99 days and after three long years, we will see each other again at our best at the Trenčín airport. → read more
