Bastille to bring the new album to Bratislava

One of the Britainʼs most successful bands today Bastille will perform their “Still Avoiding Tomorrow Tour” at the Refinery Gallery on 28 May 2019. Their song Pompeii has more than a billion streams on YouTube and Spotify combined. Their summer piece Happier (feat. DJ Marshmello) had over 100 million streams in just a few weeks. They have been awarded at BRIT Awards and NME Awards; the release of the awaited third studio album Doom Days is expected in the spring of 2019. Loyal fans will be able to hear new tracks a bit sooner, though, as the band will play some of them during the February tour in European cities. Thanks to Pohoda, the tour includes Slovakia, too.   → read more

Legendary Rodriguez in Stará Tržnica this Sunday

Legendary Rodriguez in Stará Tržnica this Sunday

The hero of an Oscar-winning documentary Searching for Sugar Man, Rodriguez, is performing in Bratislava’s Old Market Hall this Sunday (September 30). His story can be boldly called one of the most powerful in the history of music. His songs were copied by millions, they inspired anti-apartheid warriors, and legends were being told about him, while he was working at construction sites back home. One of the best songwriters from the end of the hippie era has finally earned the merited recognition thanks to the Oscar documentary “Searching for Sugar Man”. His history with Pohoda was powerful, too. It took us six years to finally drag him to our festival, and once here, he did not want to leave. He eventually became the last foreign artist to leave the festival grounds. In the course of conversation, he mentioned his two almost-sold-out shows in the Royal Albert Hall as well as the fact that he would like to return to Slovakia very soon. As a result, there will be just one concert added to those in one of the most prestigious music halls in the world—you can see him in the Old Marketplace in Bratislava on 30th September. The concert will be opened by a talented composer, pianist and singer Andrea Bučko.     → read more

Isama Zing announced as the first Slovak artist at Eurosonic 2019

Isama Zing announced as the first Slovak artist at Eurosonic 2019

We learned the name of the first Slovakian representative in the Eurosonic 2019 line-up. Yesterday, the biggest European showcase festival released the first list of artists, and it includes ISAMA ZING (Jonatán Pastirčák). His work received very positive response also at the first edition of the Sharpe festival. It was his project that foreign guests at the Listening Session gave the most points to. This producer, DJ, and member of the Mäss collective was nominated by Rádio_FM, which owes this option to the membership of the Slovak Radio and TV in EBU (European Broadcasting Union). In its focus on music from the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Eurosonic will release eight more names of local artists at the beginning of November.  → read more
