Nabosoposkle

Nabosoposkle

The emo HC / DIY Košíce band Nabosoposkle consisting of Tomi, Adam, Šimon and Vilo will also play in the Garage. They were using the encrypted name Galikjetajný to talk about rehearsals, crust melodies and DIY debates for about 4 years, which eventually resulted in a fifteen-minute set, the genre being somewhere close to the emotional hc. Immediately after their premiere in Košice Colloseum at the end of 2017, they were praised by Punkgen.sk. The songs talk about the irrational search for enemies, prejudices, or the importance of actively doing something to change the world. They don’t just sing about active involvement, the band members are behind the Food Not Bombs initiative (which gives hot food free to people who need it). → read more

Small Town Life

Small Town Life

Pohoda 2019 will feature a young punk quartet from Šaľa, Small Town Life, who will play in the Garage. Modré Hory in Café Kušnierik

Modré Hory in Café Kušnierik

In addition to the concert, Modré Hory also played their song Absint during Pohoda accoustic session last year. Bene, Lyrik, Roland Kánik and their guests Michal Šelep (bass) and Ľuboš "Ežo" Ambrozai (drums) enjoyed playing in this line-up so much that they decided to repeat it, but this time with a longer set. And where else should they play for the first time in this line-up than where this idea originated? Modré Hory have released 3 albums, 2 mixtapes, one EP and one lyric book. Rap for people in their thirties, some say, but these thirty-something guys don’t care. For them, it's about music and they love it. Bene and Roland won the first ever genre award in the Hip-Hop category at the RHA, which they also won two years later as Modré Hory for the album Big Beat. At last year's Pohoda they introduced a new album called Luxus clan. The motto "more boring than life" was exchanged for "rap about everything and nothing ". This time they’ll play in Café Kušnierik, which was their own choice since Juraj was their big fan. → read more

Karpatskí pastieri in Café Kušnierik

Karpatskí pastieri in Café Kušnierik

"I am still a Carpathian shepherd ...," Dominik Tatarka wrote to Silvester Krčméry in a letter in 1986. And that is how a group from the Little Carpathians area found their name, Karpatskí pastieri. They used to belong among Slovak bands that stood out due to their approach that could be compared, for example, to the Hungarian Másfél. Karpatskí pastieri got the band together after many years and they’ve been working on a new album. They’ll also play at Pohoda. Café Kušnierik is an ideal stage for them – not only for linking literature and music in the name itself, but also because one of the centres of the band is Artforum in Pezinok. → read more

Vec in Café Kušnierik

Vec in Café Kušnierik

One of the most distinctive figures of Slovak basketball, Vec, will perform in Café Kušnierik. He is one of the traditional artists at Pohoda, and Juraj Kušnierik was also extremely fond of him. He liked him so much that he even had some passionate arguments with certain members of the Pohoda team about him. Vec also proved his love for Pohoda when he wanted to create an allegorical parade on a garbage truck, which, fortunately, no one’s repeated after him, because it was the worst thing he’s created so far. → read more

Chalani z chatrče in Café Kušnierik

Chalani z chatrče in Café Kušnierik

Chalani z chatrče are a bunch of musicians from Budulovská village in Moldava. They started to play more actively after a police intervention in the settlement on June 19, 2013. One of their songs is dedicated to this sad event. Meanwhile, the victims of the intervention were turned into the accused – similar to Hedviga Malinová’s case. In addition to the great music, Chalani z chatrče draw attention to the iniquities committed by the official authorities on the weakest inhabitants of Slovakia. Thanks to their great voices, they also collaborated with Ida Kelarová on her project Čhavorenge. Juraj Kušnierik was, except for his artistic soul, also a great human rights activist, and we're sure that Chalani z chatrče will make him happy in his Pohoda tent. → read more

Med in Café Kušnierik

Med in Café Kušnierik

Med, a famous band from Bratislava, will also play a gig in Café Kušnierik. The band was initially known mostly for their concerts in today non-existent Stoka. Bratislava is also the main theme of Med’s songs. Many musicians have gone through the band during the 21 years of its existence and non-existence. The unchanged fundamental duo is Tomáš Ďurovka and Vlado Holina. Med currently play sporadically, but with a great pomp, and their line-up consists of Tomáš Ďurovka, Vlado Holina, Vlado Slama and Matej Ruman. Andrea Bučko in Café Kušnierik

Andrea Bučko in Café Kušnierik

The talented composer, pianist and singer Andrea Bučko will also play at Café Kušnierik. She is often compared to Tori Amos or Norah Jones, and she wonderfully opened the concert of Sixto Rodriguez in Stará Tržnica last autumn. In her music, Andrea mixes several genres ranging from jazz, indie, Slovak folklore, classical music to the French chanson influences. In 2012, she debuted with album “In the Middle of”, featuring a talented harpist and her long-time colleague Maria Kmeťková, who will be her guest also at Pohoda. The debut was then followed by “Polarity” (2015) and the latest release “Escape” (2018); she worked on the latter one during her almost two-year residence in Paris. She collaborated on this extraordinarily intimate recording with, for example, Iraqi painter and political refugee Mudi, and the album features also a duet with the singer of the famous Brazilian band Vanguart, Helio Flanders.  Songs from the last album, as well as some new ones, will be delivered by her intimate line-up at Pohoda 2019, too.  → read more

Nastya Muravyova at Pohoda 2019

Nastya Muravyova at Pohoda 2019

Pohoda 2019 will also host the Ukrainian DJ Nastya Muravyova. She’ll deliver her straightforward techno from Kyiv in the best sense of word. After storming through European night clubs, Nastya stood up behind the DJ decks and now "transforms the acquired inspiration into her energetic sets.  She mixes postpunk, coldwave and rock influences with heavy 4/4 structure with inserts of breakbeat, EBM and electro. Her sets are a perfect combination of the Easter European coldness coming from the tiles of the Kyiv Cxema and the whimsiness of Berlin techno clubs. To prepare yourselves visually for her music set, we recommend checking this Instagram: www.instagram.com/c_x_e_m_a: www.instagram.com/c_x_e_m_a/ → read more
