The author of the album of the year 2016 (Pitchfork, Spin, Vibe) and winner of a 2016 Grammy Award, Solange Knowles, will be playing Pohoda 2017. Her latest album A Seat at the Table has been praised by the likes of Time, Chicago Tribune, Clash, Mojo, NME or Rolling Stone. Solange is currently one of the biggest R&B and soul stars. We’re glad that besides Primavera or Panorama festivals, Solange will be one of the big names on our bill as well. → read more

Pohoda 2017 will see the front man of Sonic Youth and one of the most influential guitarists in the world, Thurston Moore. David Fricke, editor at Rolling Stone, lists him as #34 in his “100 Greatest Guitarists” article. According to Spin, together with Lee Ranaldo, he even ranks #1 in the magazine’s “100 Greatest Guitarists of all Time” list. → read more

On our way from Eurosonic, the whole Pohoda office crew is sitting in the van, evaluating the gigs and listening to CDs from agents. We establish a strict rule to contact only those artists that will get a “one” from each member (pedagogical minimum in practice). Last year, the only act that made it was a band: Pixvae. They are simply impossible to be mistaken for someone else. The band provides a beautiful interplay between world music, experimental music and math-rock. Pixvae should definitely not slip under the radar of Battles fans or listeners of Potkan’s radio program Hudba sveta (World Music). Or basically anyone who loves discovering exceptional forms of music. You will get a chance to see them live at Pohoda.   → read more

You’ll get dragged into the club from street by groove and sound of a cool sax solo. Cutting through the clouds of thick cigarette smoke, in front of you, you’ll see virtuoso Robin Verheyen in the middle of a battle with a front man of the legendary Belgian band dEUS, Tom Barman, and other fantastic musicians. Barman already won our visitors’ hearts back in 2011 when his band dEUS put on one of the most memorable shows of that festival edition. His current project TaxiWars has been praised by music historian Ashley Kahn, Clash or The Independent and is highly recommended by Pohoda Festival as well. → read more

Pohoda 2017 will see one of the biggest talents on Swiss electronic music scene, FlexFab. After playing festivals such as Paléo, Montreux Jazz Festival, Zurich Open Air or Eurosonic, he’s coming to introduce us to the combination of twisted rhythms, odd-tronica, trap, trip-hop, devastating bass music and beats at our festival as well. → read more

Phantasmagoric band Auktyon from Saint Petersburg appeared at the first edition of Pohoda by a lucky chance and their gig was an amazing experience. After city stadium, they played incredible shows at Pod Sokolicami area (1999, 2001) and now they will be debuting at the airport. The band created such a unique style that the age doesn’t affect them. If by any chance it does, it’s only in a positive way: they are as crazy, bizarre and exceptionally creative as before. Their mix of avant-garde, jazz, traditional music and absurd drama still works like clockwork. Baloji, a Belgian rapper with origins in Congo, mixes African world music with hip-hop, rap, French chanson, soul, funk, jazz, and electronic music. Articles and reviews in BBC, The Guardian, El Pais, The Telegraph, and The Independent confirm that his mixture works well; the last of the listed newspaper said his second album was “the most vivid, consistent, and vigorous African hip-hop album since K'naan times of Dusty Foot Philosopher”.
