Workshops and activities in Family Park at Pohoda 2019
The Family Park programme includes accompanying activities and various workshops. Children will learn how to get creative with Janko Hraško, how clothes used to be made by our grandparents, and EDUdrama will make room for the kids to “give the life a dry run”. Ecological topics will be included as well: at the knitting workshop, children will get to know how to make bamboo make-up removal pads and recycle worn-out T-shirts, learn a lot about the Slovak nature, and help the whale singer Greta clear the sea. Also this year, the Family Park will have Montessori activities, yoga class, a potter’s wheel, CirKus-Kus, and the Tent full of music

The adventures of a flax seed
A demonstration of the journey of a flax seed from its sowing, flowering, and traditional manual processing until it is woven into a finished final product. A scutcher, spinning wheel, spirals, and looms are tools that little visitors will be able to try out in processing flax the way our grand- and great grandparents used to work.
Lecturer: Ľubomíra Žilková
EDUdrama, as the first drama centre of its kind in Slovakia, offers interactive experience programmes for audiences of all ages. Through drama education, it aims to humanize the society and cultivate its social and artistic prerequisites and abilities. Do you want to experience a draft of the life? With Edudrama, you have a unique opportunity to do so.
Whale singer Greta
Topics: waste separation, ecology, responsibility
Greta is the most famous whale singer in the sea, but one day she loses her voice. In an underwater doctorʼs office, sea animals find out that their illnesses are caused by garbage that does not belong to the sea. Together, we will heal the sea life and will enjoy the spectacular Gretaʼs concert.
Janko Hraško
Topics: ingenuity, problem solving, autonomy in relation to the adult world
There is a whole lot of Jankos in the fairy tale world. But this Janko is especially crafty and resourceful. Janko Hraško was able to convince his own dad and outmanoeuvred a rich man. How did he deal with the spilled soup, overcome the dangers that threatened him, and how would it have turned out if his mum had just cooked pumpkin soup?
Knitting, the yoga of our grandmas
The fact that knitting and crocheting has an effect similar to yoga has already been confirmed by scientists. In addition to being highly creative, this activity fully fits with the up-cycling philosophy. At the knitting workshop, children (and their parents) will make ecological make-up removal pads from organic bamboo, as well as recycle worn-out t-shirts to produce yarn for further creative work.

Civic association Kruhy: Potter’s wheel
The pottery corner in the workshop tent is the ideal place for children to get acquainted with pottery and make their own clay bowl or a jug. Two potter’s wheels will make this popular activity available to more small potters at the same time.
Family yoga for the whole family
Children, parents, and even grandparents will discover a new way to spend time together in this yoga class from YogaShala. Family Yoga is particularly suitable for young children with difficulties keeping focus, as well as for older children and parents. The lesson works with the presence of more generations of a family at one place, which makes it possible to bring this practice to the home environment as well.
Eco-activities and creative workshops
WWF—World Wildlife Fund—is famous with its panda symbol. In their stand, the fund will offer playful interactive eco activities and workshops about the Slovak nature. Probably every child knows a tiger; WWF Slovakia will introduce to children our big cats. Kids will use a creative way to discover the nature, make animals, paint, and play here.
Tent full of music
The students of musical and pedagogical faculties led by Eva Šušková, Michal Svorada, and Ján Papulák have prepared various musical activities: kids will be able to make their own musical instruments and play different instruments, creating the Recycled Orchestra that will also perform its noisy happening—Beatbox on the stage.
Montessori activities
The Montessori Club in Trenčín will offer to children activities and aids that can support them in naturally developing their skills and gaining knowledge. The Club follows the principle of “respect and be respected” and applies the knowledge and practices of the Montessori educational methodology. One of its main ideas is that the child is a creator of him/herself: all children have a unique personality. You can find their trained lecturers in the workshop tent.
CirKus-Kus
CirKus-Kus is the first Slovak school of modern circus and a proved refreshment of the Family Park. It teaches healthy movement, creativity, and agility: abilities that are important for all children and adults alike. CirKus-Kus focuses on gymnastics, juggling, acrobatics, balance, and theatre both in terms of teaching as well as performing. Kids aided by lecturers become small circus artists for a short moment.
