VISUAL STAGE: Ilona Németh – Eastern Sugar
Visual Stage brings works from internationally established artists, as well as from the rising generation of authors. This year, there will be a total of 17 installations at the festival. The aim is to present contemporary visual art to the festival attenders using installations, performance, as well as personal meetings and interviews. Visual stage is curated by Ilona Németh, one of the most distinctive figures of fine art not only in Slovakia. She will also introduce her own work called Eastern Sugar.

This art-research project uses history of the Slovak sugar industry to respond to the transformative, turbulent period of rapid changes after 1989 which are directly linked to the economic and socio-political problems of the present. You'll be able to make your own sugar cane at the installation located in the centre of the festival. Architect Marian Ravasz, photographer Olja Triaška-Štefanovič, Cukru production and Kunsthalle Bratislava collaborate on this project as well.
