Visual artists are coming together for a charity auction in support of Pohoda Festival

A group of renowned visual artists has come together for a charity auction in support of Pohoda Festival. This year, the festival was unexpectedly cut short due to a "downburst," a rare meteorological phenomenon, which caused significant damage that has cast uncertainty over its future. Now, in partnership with the art auction house SOGA, the artists are lending a helping hand to Pohoda by auctioning off their works.

Since its inception, Pohoda Festival has supported and worked closely with contemporary artists. Thanks to the involvement of curator and professor Ilona Németh, the Visual Stage has become an important part of the festival, providing a platform for many visual artists. It is from this community that the initiative to support Pohoda arose. The artists have organised a charity auction of their works, with all proceeds going directly to the festival.

"The Visual Stage has become an integral part of Pohoda, and over the past nine years it has earned a status equal to that of the festival's music stages. I am proud that Pohoda has become a respected showcase of exceptionally high-quality visual art. The credit for this goes not only to curator Ilona Németh, but also to long-time collaborators such as Dano Dida or currently Veronika Němcová. Of course, we are also very grateful to the artists who create the content for the Visual Stage. We are deeply moved that most of them, along with many other artists, have decided to support Pohoda in its difficult times by contributing to this incredible auction in cooperation with SOGA. We are also grateful to everyone who is participating in the auction and we hope that they will experience the same joy from the works they purchase as we do in preparing the festival. Thank you for this strong show of solidarity; it gives us strength and hope for the future," said Pohoda Festival director Michal Kaščák in response to the initiative.

The online auction, Visual Stage pre Pohodu (Visual Stage for Pohoda), is now live on the SOGA Art Auction House website, which has generously waived its auction commission. Similarly, all 45 participating artists have forfeited their fees, ensuring that the festival receives the maximum financial benefit. You can find the auction link here.

The auction will run until 9:00 PM on 15th October 2024.
