Večer pre všímavých (The Evening for the Attentive) – 17. 11. 2016

Večer pre všímavých (The Evening for the Attentive) – 17. 11. 2016

The Polish folk-punk street rebels Hańba!, alternative frolic Chiki liki tu-a, and new swing selector Matwe Drappenmadchenfeller will play at KC Dunaj on 17 November at this yearʼs Večer pre všímavých (translated as “The Evening for the Attentive”). Before the concert, there will be discussions with the fresh White Crow (Biela vrana) award holders whose names will be announced during the gala evening in the P. O. Hviezdoslav City Theater.

07. November 2016

The band Hańba! was started by musicians with experience in folk, klezmer, punk, indie-rock, metal, and even electronic music formations. Last year, they performed at OFF, one of the largest Polish festivals.  They caught the ear of KEXP, the well-known US radio station, which started shooting a series of videos on Polish bands with them. Denník N ranked Hańba! one of the black horses of Pohoda, Samo Marec drew attention to them in Pohodenník (Pohoda daily), and the energy appealed also to the journalists of the daily SME. Their punk-folk performance will open the concert part of the Evening for the Attentive starting at 9 pm.

Chiki liki tu-a celebrated their twentieth birthday on the music scene with a great concert at last yearʼs Pohoda. They are known for their witty lyrics, great atmosphere of their concerts, and a strong mixing of genres. The band—aka founders of acrobatic rock'n'roll and the Festival of bad music, the holders of Zlatý gunár (Golden Gander) as the Slovak band playing most often abroad—will play at KC Dunaj at 10.30 pm.

After them, the selector Matwe Drappenmadchenfeller will follow. His selections are determined by a positive attitude towards alternative electronic music, as well as punk, nu-jazz, guitars, new swing, techno music and basically everything that can make people move. At The Evening for the Attentive, however, we hear mainly what interests him the most—resonating alternative realm full of dynamic riffs, bass lines, uncompromising guitars, and also unrestrained electronic music, beats, and saxophones. Admission to the concerts at KC Dunaj is € 5.

The P.O. Hviezdoslav City Theatre will hold the ninth edition of the White Crow (Biela vrana) award, starting at 5:11 pm. The White Crow award is an expression of gratitude to people who have suppressed their personal interests in the name of the public good. Those who oppose the arrogance of power are often rewarded with punishment or criticism. The White Crow award is an opportunity to tell stories of remarkable people, express gratitude for their actions, and motivate others not to be afraid to take concrete actions to demonstrate civil courage. The theater will host Michael Kocáb and Karpatské chrbáty, Vrbovské vŕby, and Hańba! Admission is € 5. However, you can choose to support the project with a higher amount as well. The admission in KC Dunaj is free for The White Crow award ticket holders.

You are heartfully invited to the Evening for the Attentive by: Aliancia Fair-play, VIA IURIS, KC Dunaj, Foundation for Stopping Corruption, and Pohoda Festival.
