Tomorrow we’ll see if we are the winners of festival Oscars: Arthur Awards
Today, ILMC (International Live Music Conference) has started in London. The conference also features Arthur Awards. The shortlist of six nominees for the music industry’s equivalent of Oscars, which is regarded as the most prestigious award within music world, features Pohoda along with festivals Isle of Wight, Lollapalooza Berlin, Paléo Festival Nyon, Rock Werchter and British Summertime Hyde Park. The nominations were decided by a committee of 100 music professionals and the destiny of the 6 nominees will be decided by a voting pool of 4,000 personalities, festival directors, managers, agents, promoters, ticketing companies representatives as well as music journalists. The winners of the latest two editions of Arthur Awards were Rock am Ring (2015) and Rock Werchter (2014). Keep your fingers crossed for us.
08. March 2017
ILMC can boast with the title “the most respected music industry conference where heads of music industry meet”. Apart from the “gala” participation in an important and funny Arthur Awards ceremony (the festival category has the name of “liggers favourite festival”), Michal will be co-hosting a panel discussion about emerging markets and ways to survive higher artist and production fees without raising ticket prices. The topic of original approach and other specifications of various adventurous regions of the world will be covered as well. Together with Michal, Lollapalooza Berlin festival director, Fruszina Szép, who was also artistic director of the Sziget Festival or the Hungarian Music Export Office, will be taking part in the discussion. Another participant will be a Canadian living in Prague, Serge Grimaux. Before Intellittix (company providing RFID solutions – access control, cashless payment systems, etc.), he founded ticketing network Ticketpro and promoted concerts of artists and bands such as Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Pearl Jam, U2, Coldplay and many more.
Last but not least, good news from Michal to all foosball fans: “ILMC finally has a proper table: the carrier delivered it from Slovakia on Tuesday. We put it together with friends in the evening. Foosball tournament forms part of the important night discussions at the conference bar. After a heated debate on which table is the best, last year, ILMC director Greg Parmley said: ʻIf you don’t like our table, bring yours.ʼ It now stands at the bar, ready for the uncompromising battles between agents and promoters of the world. They are in for a treat.”
