Tolstoys to Bring Their Raw Energy and Tracks from New Album The Buzz to Pohoda

Tolstoys, the first Slovak band to make it into the Glastonbury festival line-up, will bring their blend of magical psychedelia and unfiltered energy to Pohoda, along with songs from their upcoming album The Buzz.

Since winning Debut of the Year at the Radio_Head Awards in 2017, Tolstoys have played over 250 live concerts. Their frontwoman, Ela Tolstova, was named in Forbes’ 30 Under 30, and following the release of their second album Mirror Me – nominated for Album of the Year 2022 – the band appeared on the biggest billboard in New York’s Times Square. 

In April 2024, they released No Limit To Love – an album that weaves a mystical tapestry of ethereal Slavic trip-hop and ancient hippie psychedelic harmonies in a way only they can.

After that they went on tour across Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Switzerland, and became the very first Slovak band to play at the world-famous Glastonbury Festival—and they also fitted in a short UK tour beforehand. Their concerts were met with positive responses, and the band hopes to return to the legendary festival one day. Their live shows are honest yet mysterious, wild yet vulnerable; full of warmth, seductive rhythms, old magic, and new joy. They draw from a wide range of musical influences rooted in their Slavic-New Zealand-Irish-German heritage. Imagine Hendrix playing the Slovak fujara while Perinbaba sings the blues.

The five-piece band, dressed in typically psychedelic hippie outfits, features Ela Tolstová (vocals), Pauline Grabe (guitar), Michal Smetana (bass), Drew Deal (drums), and Matej Herceg (percussion). They’ll be bringing their newest songs from The Buzz to Trenčín Airport.
