They Hate Change at Pohoda 2022

We conclude the list of foreign names in the Pohoda line-up with a great discovery of the American hip hop scene, the duo They Hate Change. We liked them instantly and Gleb, who will play after them, also confirmed their uniqueness. Dre and Vonne are sound omnivores, lovers of rare and radical sounds. Their work is influenced by bass music variants such as jook (unexpected Gulf of Mexico response to house) and crank, as well as drum’n’bass, post-punk, prog, grime, krautrock, emo, and basically any music genre.

Their current album received the rating of 8/10 from Pitchfork, with a note that the duo from Tampa made a recording from geeks for music geeks. Loud and Quiet acknowledges how they turned their musical Anglophilia or, more precisely, their love of rave and British hardcore subgenres, upside down in Tampa. They Hate Change will open the programme on the Sporka stage on Thursday. This will be symbolic: first a fresh discovery from Tampa, then the local phenomenon Gleb, and finally the hip hop “founding father” Grandmaster Flash. We expect this to be a concert that, after years, people will be proudly talking about saying “we were there”.
