The trip was organised by Ukrainian Association of Music Events (UAME), Night Ambassadors organisation and Music Saves UA charity initiative, with which Pohoda actively cooperates. The aim of the trip was to bring together music professionals from other countries who would become cultural ambassadors for Ukraine. The guests spent the first two days in Kyiv – they saw how the capital and its culture functioned during the war, visited the destroyed houses and cultural monuments in Irpin and Borodyanka, and heard firsthand about the defence of Hostomel. On the third day they visited the then liberated cities of Kherson and Mykolaiv. "Kherson greeted us with explosions that could be heard even in the air-raid shelter. This is the new reality we have to live in now. We talked to local volunteers who told us how Kherson survived the occupation and how the Russians, who withdrew from the city, took everything, even hammers, nails and screwdrivers," say the Music Saves UA organisers about their experience from the trip. “The Ukrainian music scene is admirable – not only from an artistic point of view, but also in its attitude towards Russia's cruel war against our neighbours and against freedom in general. The journey we took with the amazing people from the local scene was the most powerful of my life. Thanks to it, our cooperation with Ukrainians will be stronger than ever before," promises Michal Kaščák.
Michal is back in Ukraine these days. "Today I am in Kherson, where we are fine-tuning the participation of the local Mykola Kulish Theatre at Pohoda 2023. Mr. Oleksandr Knyha is a real hero – at the very beginning of the war he was kidnapped by Russian soldiers and forced to collaborate. Not only did he resist, but he proudly continued to run the theatre, which remained Ukrainian throughout the occupation. Mr. Knyha is one of the bravest and most inspiring people I have ever met. His theatre recently staged its first performance since the city’s liberation, and we will do everything we can to welcome him at Pohoda,” Michal Kaščák reports from Kherson.

Рекомендуємо подивитися цікавий документальний фільм Music Ambassadors Tour з поїздки в Україну, яку також завершив у грудні Міхал з нашої команди. Поїздку підготували Українська асоціація музичних подій (УАМЕ), організація «Нічні амбасадори» та благодійна ініціатива Music Saves UA, з якою активно співпрацює фестиваль «Pohoda». Поїздка мала на меті об'єднати музичних професіоналів та професіоналів з інших країн, та стати культурними амбасадорами України.
Перші два дні гості провели в Кивіві - побачили, як у воєнний час працювала столиця і її культура, побачили зруйновані будинки і пам'ятники культури в Ірпіні і Бородянці, на власні очі почули про оборону Гостомеля. На третій день вони відвідали щойно звільнене місто Херсон та Миколаїв. "Херсон зустрів нас вибухами, які також можна було почути в зенітному укритті. Це нова реальність, в якій ми повинні зараз жити. Ми поспілкувалися з місцевими волонтерами, які розповіли нам, як Херсон пережив окупацію і як росіяни, які вийшли з міста, забрали з собою все, навіть молотки, цвяхи і викрутки", - розповідають про досвід подорожі організатори Music Saves UA. «Музична сцена України викликає захоплення – не лише з художньої точки зору, а й з підходу до жорстокої війни Росії проти наших сусідів і проти свободи загалом. Подорож, яку ми здійснили з дивовижними людьми зі сцени там, була найсильнішою в моєму житті. Завдяки їй ми ще більше будемо співпрацювати з людьми з України», – обіцяє Міхал Кашчак.
Цими днями Міхал знову повернувся в Україну. «Буквально сьогодні я перебуваю в Херсоні, де ми доопрацьовуємо участь місцевого театру імені Миколи Куліша на фестивалі «Pohoda 2023». Олександр Книга справжній герой – саме на початку війни його викрали російські солдати і змусили співпрацювати. Він не тільки чинив опір, а й продовжував з честю керувати театром, який залишався українським навіть під час окупації. Пан Книга – один з найсміливіших і надихаючих людей, яких я коли-небудь зустрічав. Його театр нещодавно поставив свою першу виставу після звільнення міста, і ми зробимо все можливе, щоб привітати його на фестивалі Pohoda», – розповідає Міхал Кашчак з Херсона.
