Molchat Doma at Pohoda 2022
The Pohoda 2022 line-up will have Belarussan band Molchat Doma. Dark yet danceable, and with a heavy dose of goth ethos, their music is reminiscent of the Russian bands from the 1980s. The song “Sudno” was long one of the top viral songs on Spotify and Tik_tok, and the band usually plays to packed clubs in London, Warsaw, Helsinki, and Berlin. At the beginning of July, they will cheer fans of the post-punk, new-wave and synth-pop genres at the Trenčín airport.

Egor Shkutko sings the Russian lyrics in his deep monotone voice, and under are Pavel Kozlov’s distinct bass lines and Roman Komogortsev’s guitar lines, synthesizers, and drum machines. Molachat Doma released their debut S krysh nashikh domov shortly after the band was founded in 2017. In 2018, they released LP Etazhi, while the song “Sudno” from this album was the second most viral song in the world on Spotify. By the way, the name of the album refers to high-rise blocks typical of Soviet cities, and the cover of the album features Hotel Panoráma (located in Štrbské Pleso, Slovakia). At the end of 2020, they produced another album, Monument, which The Quietus likens to The Cure and Kraftwerk, and AllMusic concludes that the album sounds much brighter and more overtly danceable than their earlier records. According to musicOMH.com, the album proved the band to be more than an entertaining chip off the old Bloc.
