Ľudová hudba Pokošovci at Pohoda 2019

Ľudová hudba Pokošovci from Horehronie village Šumiac will make the Pohoda 2019 NAY Dance House sway as well. It is one of the best and most popular traditional Roma musics in Slovakia. In addition to the dynamic playing expression, they also standout by an impressive multi-voice singing in a harmoniously specific performance, typical for the region of the eastern "Hron" and for the interpretation of local, original Roma folk songs.

14. June 2019

The core of the folk music of Pokošovci consists of three brothers: Miroslav (first violin), Radoslav (viola contra) and Stanislav (double bass). It is complemented by their cousin Vladimír Pokoš (viola contra) and accordionist Július Markus (accordion). Almost all of them come from the well-known village of Šumiac (Brezno District), and their family ties from their mother’s side link them to the neighbouring village of Telgárt. Both villages are also known for the distinctiveness of the playing styles of Roma string musics, which have been formed by representatives of two large musical families for several generations – Pokošovci and Harvanovci. Except for their own concert, they will also perform at Pohoda in a dance workshop with Morongovci called Horehronské čoromoro.
