Literary Tent Martinus at Pohoda 2019

The Martinus bookshop, in cooperation with the OZ Literárny klub, will offer Pohoda attenders two days full of quality reading and interesting guests. You can look forward to Simon Mawer, the author of the successful novel Glass Room. A film of the same name was based on the book. Czech journalist Jan Urban, Hungarian writer Ferenc Czinki, authors of popular Čierne diery, Milan Lasica, Dano Majling, Michal Hvorecký, Dorota Nvotová and SND actors will read excerpts from the latest book by Dušan Mitana. In addition, a selection of great books, excellent coffee and other goodies from the Foxford Café await you in the Literary Tent Martinus.

Jan Urban – Všem sráčům navzdory

Czech journalist and politician Jan Urban was a member of the Czechoslovak dissidents before 1989 and a signatory to the Charter 77. Can a comic book depict history more powerfully than novels? After 14 years, Dušan Mitana completed the last volume of his novel project Svedectvo o procese premeny (The Testament of the Transformation Process). The book will be presented by KK Bagala and excerpts will be read by actors of the Slovak National Theatre Richard Stanke and Jana Oľhová.

The author changed the names of the people and places, but there is no doubt that when writing the novel he was inspired by the Brno Villa Tugendhat, which played an important role in the history of Czechoslovakia.
