EFA announced its shortlists – Pohoda can win The Take a Stand Award and Michal Kaščák can receive the Award for Excellence and Passion
This year's European Festival Awards (EFA) shortlists were dominated by the Danish Roskilde and the Polish Open'er with four nominations. They are followed by the festivals Pohoda, Sziget, Exit, Wacken and Mladí Ladí Jazz, which won two EFA shortlist nominations. Pohoda was once again nominated in The Take a Stand Award category, and for the second time, Michal Kaščák found himself among the ten influential personalities of the European music business in The Award for Excellence and Passion category.

The nomination for The Take a Stand Award came after the festival's response to the tragic events of February last year. Pohoda organized Concerts for Ján and Martina in several towns in Slovakia and we also responded to this tragedy and threats to the freedom of speech at the festival itself by music, visual arts and discussions. The highlight was the opening concert of the Slovak Chamber Orchestra with over 150 singers from various choirs from all over Slovakia and the world premiere of “The Quartet of Tentacles Reaching Out” by Miro Tóth which was presented by the world-famous Kronos Quartet string quartet. Ben Chalis, the long-standing Glastonbury’s lawyer of Glastonbury, Exit and Melt bookers Ivan Milivojev and Stefan Lehmkuhl, and the founder of the Trans Musicales festival, Jean-Louis Brossard, are nominated in the The Award for Excellence and Passion category together with Michal.
As the winner of the Green Operations Award, we have made great efforts this year and have introduced probably the largest number eco-friendly novelties. This time we couldn’t be nominated in this favourite category of ours, since we are members of the jury as the defenders of the title. We’ll find out whether we’ll bring another "statuette" to Slovakia from the European Festival Awards, the 10th edition of the most prestigious festival competition, at the gala on January 16 in Groningen, Netherlands. Thank you for your votes and keep your fingers crossed for us. You can see the complete shortlists of the European Festival Awards here:
