Club Záhrada line-up at Pohoda on the Ground on Sunday, 11th July

Last day’s programme at Pohoda will be, apart from Hájovňa, provided by the independent culture centre Záhrada from Banská Bystrica. Their stage will deliver performance by Pohoda’s regulars, such as Para, B-complex, and Modré Hory, plus the band Trucki, then late at night BooBoo and Fat F will make people dance, and an experimental audio-visual hypnotic project Dreamers ft. Tinny Falls will perform as well.

PARA

For a quarter of a century, Para has successfully confirmed its reputation as a top concert band. Winners of the 2018 Radio_Head Awards for Album of the Year (Našou Krajinou) will be returning to us within Záhrada stage line-up, which Kristina Chmelíkova explained very decisively: “There are bands we have a more formal relationship with and there are bands we like because they have Lasky!” The band have recorded seven albums since 1995, but the key to their success is the way they know how to sell them live. Guitarist Jožko Rezník and accordionist Tibor Kökéni from Kokavakere Lavutara came a few years ago and fit perfectly into the band. The dominant essence of their performances is a lot of energy and fun, but they don't shy away from heavier themes in their lyrics. As Vladimíra Gahérová writes: “In addition to streams of entertainment and romantic motifs, there are also tremendous waves of social criticism coming at fans.” According to Hudba.sk, the band have never sounded so professional and mature. “The combination of different personalities from the bon vivant Lasky through well-organized Matúš, the dreamy Danko, the Englishman Jožko, the gentleman Tibike to the group's "lagerfeld" Sada mixes brilliantly, and creates a unique blend of songs that they play with such verve that they can convince dreampop youths and older rockers alike. Para have a secret that just works” – said an unnamed member of our agency about this musical definition of one of the many faces of Bratislava.

B-COMPLEX

B-Complex is a Slovak producer and DJ, who has made a name for herself in the world mainly with her tracks released on Hospital records. With millions of streams of her tracks, she has given countless number of performances both in Europe and overseas. In January 2019, she represented Slovakia at the biggest European showcase festival. On that occasion, the All Things Loud portal wrote that she demolished the notion that there was no room for flexibility in drum & bass.  Milan Zvada adds on her booking: “Matia aka B-Complex was a respected DJ before anyone in Slovakia even noticed. She is a person who personifies values that are close to Záhrada, such as courage, openness, togetherness, freedom, creativity and we could find many more... She is committed to the issues that Záhrada mirrors in its programme, because she cares about the protection of human rights and the development of democracy and civil society. Last but not least, she is our friend and fan and Záhrada loves her!”

TRUCKI

For fifteen years Trucki have been described as a young up-and-coming band, playing basically only two gigs a year. Therefore, it is a precious thing that these advanced thirty-somethings will play their premiere at Pohoda this year. The charismatic singer Pišta gives the catchy songs a specific, darkly self-ironic atmosphere, and since it will be an original multi-genre composition, thematically containing all aspects of everyday life, the audience will quickly identify with the songs. Marek Štrajánek adds on the selection: “Trucki have always belonged to Záhrada. Trucki are Záhrada.”

MODRÉ HORY AKUSTIK

The truly original duo Lyrik and Bene represent Slovak alternative hip hop that is based on quality lyrics with added value. At Pohoda festival, they will perform in the version Modré Hory Akustik with a full live band. Their performances always have a unique flair and get even the more demanding festival audience going. As Kristína Chmelíková says: “Modré hory have always been a favourite of ours, but it deepened when we saw Lyrik in Z/ones with Sonia Ferienčíková. Seeing him in that position, a great dancer, performer and a man who spoke with great humility about the creative process, was enchanting. Thanks to this experience, we approached him to collaborate and together with Roland Kánik they created a garden spot about donating 2% of the tax.” www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhwimzn_sCo

DREAMERS FT. TINY FALLS

Dreamers want to bring the pleasure of dreaming. This project is an audio-visual experiment based on the eponymous theatre performance by T.I.T.S., with the musical accompaniment by Tiny Falls and their atmospheric vocals, being drifted on by electronic ambient. Festival-goers will be transported to a hypnotically sensual universe that they can observe from afar or enter straight into and experience an attempt at a collective dream. As Kristína Chmelíková from Záhrada says: “The title already tells why. Dream reality is the most natural altered state of consciousness and we should be able to enjoy it more because it is full of contradictions. The most beautiful thing is when we can lose ourselves together in a collective dream. And where else to do it than at Pohoda.”

BOOBOO

BooBoo is an inconspicuous legend of the Banská Bystrica drum & bass scene. He's been pushing knobs on the mix for almost fifteen years and has performed at numerous club events and festivals at home and abroad. Genre-wise, he leans towards the softer branches such as soulful, liquid & deep drum and bass.

FAT F

The self-proclaimed new discovery of the Banská Bystrica techno scene prefers fast tempo and strict melodies. After more than two decades of actively monitoring this musical genre, it's time to translate the accumulated experience into an almost educational live set, featuring the best tracks from the mid-90s to the present day and a few of his own productions.
