ZkuFraVon Theatre: Lakiho mestečko (Laki's Town)
The production of "Lakiho mestečko" invites you to explore the town in a whole new light. Places that may initially appear mundane will soon unveil their fantastical tales. Perhaps, after experiencing this journey, you'll see your town through fresh eyes.
Do you think you know your hometown? Of course. You walk the same streets to school or work, loop around corners, stroll through parks, and go up and down the stairs daily. It can become monotonous, can't it? Same old routine, day in, day out. The city seems static. But what if it's not? Simply open your eyes and perceive things differently. But how? Let's try viewing the town from the perspective of a stray dog or from high above with a bird's eye view. Give it a try. Can you see it now?
Puppet Theatre at the Crossroads: O prvom rozprávkarovi (About the First Storyteller)
An original, imaginative fairy tale that unfolds when you close your eyes. An acoustic theatre production designed for blind, visually impaired, and sighted children aged 5 and above.
A theatrical rendition of a Chinese folk tale, suitable for children aged 5 and older, regardless of visual ability. It tells the story of a blind boy, cast out from a principality by his father (a prince) due to his visual impairment, and nurtured by wild animals in the forest. This is a pilot project in the field of Slovak puppet theatre.
"About the First Storyteller" is an original project by the Puppet Theatre at the Crossroads, incorporating elements of performance with a focus on the acoustic component. Its aim is to engage equally with blind, visually impaired, and sighted audiences by presenting a captivating narrative based on auditory stimuli and employing various, often unconventional, props and scenery. Sighted children will enjoy an equally enriching experience, albeit from a different perspective, as they witness the performers craft this unique acoustic atmosphere, often in a playful manner that resonates with the interests of today's youth. This performance adds an enriching oriental flavour to the theatre's repertoire.
EDUdrama: Zavárané tajomstvo/The Bottled Secret (for children aged 4-7)
Everyone in town knows exactly where Aunt Plum lives! In fact, you can smell her plum and greengage delicacies all around her house, even throughout the entire valley. But where did this lovely lady disappear one day? The Plum Valley without Aunt Plum? Only Lucia knows her secret. Now that she can no longer hide from the world, nothing will ever be the same again.
EDUdrama: Za siedmimi horami/Once Upon a Time (for children aged 4-10)
Once upon a time... everyone knows the beginning of a fairy tale. Fairy tales are inseparable from childhood. But has it always been like this? When did Slovak fairy tales begin and who was the first to tell them? In the programme, children will learn about the basic background and structure of folk tales and get to know the most famous collectors. We will find out whether the kingdom is saved by one of the three brothers or sisters by telling and experiencing Dobšinský's tales in our own way.
EDUdrama: Kráľ UBU/Ubu Roi (for youth and adults)
The modern age is full of unexpected characters, twists and turns, and connections that may seem humorous at first glance. But is there an almost frightening image behind them – of the ideal ruler? Of contemporary speakers? Of ourselves? Become a caricature in a comic strip based on Alfred Jarry's modernist play and experience for yourself an election campaign or the limits of your own personality.
Žilina Puppet Theatre: Pohodové divadlenie (Relaxed Theatrics)
Playing theatre, playing with theatre. A timeless fairy tale. Children take on roles as playwrights, directors, stage designers, actors, light, sound, and stage masters. Guided by actors from the Žilina Puppet Theatre, children will gain firsthand experience in theatrical production. They will craft their own puppets and sets, perform, and sing. What more could one ask for? A secret dream will become reality.
