Bez ladu a skladu at Pohoda 2022

The band Bez ladu a skladu stopped playing together shortly after the concert at the very first Pohoda. However, our festival later became their favourite “meeting point”, where they played on average every five years. At Pohoda 2015, they slightly intensified this modest periodicity. They performed at the Concerts for Ján and Martina, at the Concert for the Attentive, the anti-fascist event Slovenská krčma, and at last year’s Pohoda on the Ground, when the Stromoradie club picked them for the line-up. Their tour on the 35th anniversary was interrupted by the pandemic, but they for sure will appear at the 25th birthday of Pohoda, and Michal said about it: “I’m looking forward to playing together; it perhaps is the only time we don’t argue. Rišo Rybníček, who was with us at our beginnings, will play drums, so we will perform in our most classic formation. For him, it will actually be the first Pohoda as a drummer of Bez ladu a skladu. We keep our fingers crossed for him... :).” The Trenčín legend of alternative music will appear at home in less than a month.

Bez ladu a skladu formed in 1985. Only a year later, they played a concert at Prague’s Rockfest 86; following that, they mainly appeared at Czech alternative clubs and festivals. Among the memorable concerts before 1989 was, for example, the one at the festival in Lipnice 88 after Václav Havel’s speech and those at Slovak festivals Čertovo kolo 87 and 88, which turned to be a kind of an early sign of multigenre festivals that would begin to emerge in the 1990s. Before 1989, the band had a number of problems with the official communist regime; after the Velvet Revolution, they started to release albums and play in Czechoslovakia as well as in Western Europe. In 2009, the New York Times included them among the “bands that poked at the Iron Curtain”.
