The last five years have been really intense for this London group of four that includes the frontman and songwriter Dan Smith, keyboardist Kyle Simmons, bass guitarist and guitarist Will Farquarson, and drummer Chris Wood. The band has performed over 500 concerts on six continents, including the ReOrchestrated tour so much acclaimed by critics; 15 million singles and 6 million albums have been sold globally. Debut Bad Blood and the next album Wild World climbed to the top of the UK charts and made it also to TOP 10 in the US. Their songs have been listened to over three and a half billion times through various streaming services. The bandʼs recognition is confirmed by numbers as well as several awards. In addition to winning the British Breakthrough Act at the BRIT Awards and the Best Album at the NME Awards, they were also nominated for the Grammy, AMA, and MTV Europe Awards.
When Bastille released the first singles Flaws and Icarus in July 2010, the independent London label Young & Lost Club made 300 copies. Fortunately, one of the 7-inch discs also got into the hands of Alex Baker of Kerrang! Radio, and he immediately started rotating them in his programme. Subsequently, they gained many fans online, leading to a contract with Virigin records and playing at prestigious British festivals such as Glastonbury, Isle of Wight, and the Leeds Festival. In 2012, they released the single Overjoyed, which was introduced by the Q Magazine as “Track of the Day”; after the release of another single Bad Blood, they appeared as the “New Band of the Day” in The Guardian.
The definitive breakthrough in their career came at the beginning of 2013 when they released the exceptionally successful and acclaimed single Pompeii shortly followed by the debut Bad Blood, which immediately became number one in the British charts. In the summer of the same year, they were the opening act of the tour of Muse; in the autumn, they played the first headline slot at the Blissfields festival. A highly successful album and the whole year reflected in four nominations for the BRIT Awards, out of which they won the Best Breakthrough Act Award. In the same year, they were also nominated for Grammy in the Best New Artist category, which eventually went to Sam Smith. This much success increased the interest in the band, which, in return, soon played at a number of concerts and festivals. At the same time, they worked on new pieces, and, as they say, some were created on leisure days, others formed during sound tests. The efforts resulted in another No. 1 album, Wild World, which brought them the NME Award for the Album of the Year.
Last August, they released the song Happier featuring American DJ Marshmello. The track has become their fourth single in the TOP 5 in the UK, entered the TOP 10 in the US and has become one of the 3 globally most successful songs. It crossed the 100 million steams limit in only a few weeks. On June 14th they will release forthcoming third album Doom Days. Singer Dan Smith said about the album: “We spent most of the year working on a lot of new music and playing great concerts, so now we are looking forward to a more intimate space to play some new songs before releasing the new album.” The success of the great songs is enhanced by the energetic show on stage, which you could see also las summer at the Sziget festival. We are glad that the fans of Bastille in Slovakia will be among the first to be able to hear live the new pieces from the upcoming album.
After the original date of the concert was changed, we informed ticket owners about the option of refund in case the new date didn’t fit them. You can use this option up to May 24th 2019.
