Austrian, Polish, Hungarian, and Ukrainian media wrote about Pohoda 2018

“Once you visit, you will want to come back every year to get new experiences,” wrote the Hungarian Music-daily about Pohoda. Their colleagues from the portal added: “The most striking thing was that there were no “filler” artists in the programme compressed in two and a half days, they only had quality, contemporary, and exciting artists.” Polish Radio 17 wrote in the conclusion report of the three days: “There was so much going on that it would be difficult to describe such an adventure in a few words, or to choose what impressed the most. There is a question though that I can answer with one word only. It was worth it? Yes.” Katharina Seidler, in a review for the Austrian radio FM4, wrote about a city in which everybody understands each other. In her following article, she added that Pohoda renewed her belief in the fact that there are still great festivals without completely drunk visitors that are full of human dignity and kindness. Our friends from Ukraine even created a sub-page on their new website dedicated specially to Pohoda.

AUSTRIA:

Pohoda, its atmosphere, and great concerts are complimented also by Katharina Seidler in a review for FM4. In the opening paragraph, she writes: “Pohoda is like a small town,” and a visitor confirms this impression. Something should be added: “A town in which all the inhabitants understand each other well.” https://fm4.orf.at/stories/2923256

The same author shared her impressions with portals partiestimer.at and falter.at. She writes: “The Pohoda festival in Slovakia is a great opportunity to see great bands without being desperate about humanity. At the Trenčín airport, which is two hours away from Vienna, a tent city with 13 podiums, food stalls, various attractions, and artistic installations rises every year. Unlike other festivals of the same size, Pohoda truly is about music. 30,000 fans get cheered up by the abstract rocker St. Vincent, and folks enjoy it drinking light beer—as looking for buying spirits at the festival would be vain—and the visitors know all the lyrics by heart. Many of them are at the festival with their little kids who happily and carelessly stroll between the bouncing castle, experimental hip-hop by Dälek, and Psychedelic pop by La Femme (a great band!). Our belief in the fact that there are still great festivals without drinking until one loses their consciousness, full of human dignity and kindness, is definitively restored during the Saturday night, when we see 2000 spectators quietly watching the classical music concert delivered by the Kronos Quartet. Let Pohoda be a model for Austria.”

HUNGARY:

Music Daily “We have talked to various people who return to the festival each year. Many of them said they had never heard of most of the artists, but they often hear new things that they keep. And what is Pohoda for them? 3 days of fun and well-being, where they meet with friends or families once a year, go to concerts together, and enjoy the atmosphere of the festival. I can only confirm this: once you visit, you will want to come back here every year to get new experiences. https://music-daily.hu/2018/07/24/ilyen-volt-kozep-europa-egyik-legjobb-fesztivalja-a-pohoda

Keretblog.hu “The most striking thing was that there were no “filler” artists in the programme compressed in two and a half days, they only had quality, contemporary, and exciting artists. I heard that the line-up is compiled personally by the organiser of the festival, Michal Kaščák. If that is true, then it proves a very good taste, because the whole time I felt like it was not possible to go to a bad concert. http://keretblog.hu/pohoda-beszamolo

POLAND

Polish Radio 17 wrote beautiful reports from every day:

A starter before main course: the first day at Pohoda 2018

“An hour-and-a-half long concert of electronic music was something extraordinary and new to me, which concluded (at least for me) the Thursday fun with an interesting emphasis. I allowed myself to slowly enter the feeling-free mood and musical discovery. But I knew Thursday was just a sweet starter. The main course and the greatest experiences were just waiting for their moment. Or, rather, for a lot of moments within the next two days.” https://radio17.pl/blog/przystawka-przed-glownym-daniem-pierwszy-dzien-pohoda-festival-2018

Endless playing and breaking away from reality: the second day at Pohoda 2018

“During the second day of the festival there was so much going on that there is no way to describe it concisely. I am surprised I had so much strength to “consume” the music, dancing, and fantastic interviews with artists. However, that was not the end, because the next day I needed some more energy to make the most of the festival atmosphere.” https://radio17.pl/blog/zabawa-bez-konca-i-oderwanie-od-rzeczywistosci-drugi-dzien-pohoda-festival-2018

Music, dance, and Slovak poetry: the third day at Pohoda 2018.

“All good things come to an end. Music festivals are no exception, but is it a bad thing? We value things that are not an everyday experience for us, things we are not used to. The Pohoda 2018 festival certainly was not boring, and I was not going to change it the last day of the great entertainment.”

... and the conclusion says: “We should summarise those 3 amazing days spent in Trenčín. The perceived ideas, experiences, best memories. But there was so much going on that it would be difficult to describe such an adventure in a few words, or to choose what impressed the most. There is a question though that I can answer with one solid word only. It was worth it? Yes. If you have the chance to go to Pohoda or other music festivals, do not hesitate. There is always something new and surprising to discover in the world of music.” https://radio17.pl/blog/muzyka-tance-i-slowacki-wiersz-ostatni-dzien-pohoda-festival-2018

We will end the selection of reviews with a piece written by a journalist regularly attending Pohoda, Tomasz Bielenia. His review was published at the portal Interia.pl as well as on the website of RMF FM radio.

The long strip of the Trenčín Airport is an axis of festival attractions. On its side, there are stages, food stalls, and numerous attractions including undoubtedly popular Silent Disco. This year, when we were walking from the tent camp to the centre of the festival, we felt like kids... as we were playing jumping number. The squares drawn on the concrete led us to make long distances jumping on one leg—the longest jumping numbers game in our lives consisted of 2017 squares. Once the destination was achieved, we felt victorious; it was like approaching a finish line as we were standing on the largest rectangle decorated with a simple and wishful message: “You are here. Good feelings 2018." As it turned out, the childish jumping was not just an innocent fun, we happened to view them as a metaphor of the whole festival experience.
