After finishing university she was working in China for two years, then she moved to Germany where she started her career with the song "The Journey Aflame" in collaboration with The Drumkidz crew. As a guest speaker, she lectured at universities around the world and also started working as a researcher at Harvard last year. Along with Questlove (The Roots), Angelique Kidjo and tUneE-yArDs, she recorded the cover of Fela Kuti's song "Lady". She also collaborated with other famous musicians such as Tony Allen and Cody ChesnuTT, and produced music for Ben l’Oncle Soul. She has released four albums so far, with several media praising the latest one, The Blackest Joy. For instance, PopMatters said: “This isn't a statement about life in a consumerist culture on the verge of collapse, this is a dispatch from the planet Earth about a world that's teetering on the edge of a massive evolution, one that brings with it a series of realities and anxieties, hopes and fears.” If you like The Roots, we definitely recommend checking out the extremely pleasant ambient hip-hop with a powerful message that Akua Naru will bring to the Trenčín Airport.
