A second year of "Doma Dobre"
Following the huge success of the first year, we are happy to have another edition of the Doma dobre festival. On Sunday, 6 December, the bands Longital Suita, My Baby, and Midi Lidi will play in the low-threshold hostel of St. Vincent de Paul. The event will feature the exhibition of photos by Lukáš Macek, and will offer the traditional sour cabbage soup prepared by the Chef Jaro Židek and discussions of the representatives of the organisations that work with homeless people. One of visitors will also bring home a picture by the artist Marek Ormandik, which will be painted directly at the event. Admission is free, and your voluntary contribution will be used to support and help the homeless.

The event will start in the renovated part at one in the afternoon and there will be a photo exhibition by Lukáš Macek, viewing of the film about Depaul hostel, and cooking sour cabbage soup with Jaro Židek. Concerts will be followed by debates of the representatives of organisations dealing with the homeless (Vagus, Divadlo bez domova, Pontis, Nota Bene / Proti prúdu, Depaul Slovensko).
In the lobby, the band Longital in their Suita formation will give a concert at 2 PM. Shina and Daniel Salontay will play with Marian Slávka and a string quartet of well-known musicians (first violin: Stefan Filas, second violin: Milan Adamec, viola: Slavo Solovic, and violoncello: Jozef Ľupták). They will play songs contained in the album "A to je všetko?" that will be arranged by Solovic. This exceptional project, that gained a huge success at its sold-out premiere at the Konvergencie festival, will go live just the second time. At the beginning of the concert, the string quartet will perform carols arranged by Alexander Albrecht.
At 3:15 PM, the phenomenal Dutch-New Zealand trio My Baby will perform. The band consists of siblings Joost and Cato van Dyck and the guitar player Daniel Johnston. My Baby combine funk-blues roots with funky-dance music. This combination will gradually make you dance until you fall (as reported by fans) in a so-called voodoo trance. The group "supported" artists such as Larry Graham or Seasick Steve, and the latter one identified them as the future of music.
The last performers will be the Czech electropop band Midi Lidi. For Prokop Holoubek, Petr Marek ,and Tomáš Kellar, music is only one of many possible artistic expressions. Therefore, you can expect unconventional understanding and expression of their own songs as well as recovers. For example, at this year's Pohoda, they entertained the audience with their "helium cover version" of the song Dnes by the band Tublatanka.
Just the streets of Bratislava see about 4,000 homeless people every day. About 150 of them use the services of low-threshold hostel of St. Vincent de Paul. The employees of Depaul Slovakia take care of the homeless to provide them a warm place, food, and basic services no matter in what condition they come. Among other things, they get toiletries and, if interested, also social counselling and job search assistance. You can reach the hostel using shuttle service from Námestie 1. mája or public transport buses number 61 and 96. If you opt for the latter one, starting from the bus stop Fatruny, you can walk the way that hostel clients do every evening and morning.
How can you help?
Admission to the concert is free and during the concert, you can make a voluntary contribution that will help the people in Depaul Slovakia provide accommodation or food for homeless people. In 2014, more than 1,000 of them used the services of the low-threshold hostel. You can also send an empty SMS to number 827 to support the work with homeless people. The price of text is € 3. You can make a contribution in Depaul stand - and in exchange you will get a nice T-shirt, bag, badge, or bracelet. We are looking forward to see you.
