6th edition of Doma Dobre with Bazzookas, Saténové Ruky and Lomnické Čháve

6th edition of Doma Dobre with Bazzookas, Saténové Ruky and Lomnické Čháve

When we invited the Dutch band Bazzookas to the St. Vincet de Paul night shelter last year, did not hesitate for a second. This time around they themselves even asked if we were doing a concert for the homeless people again. The attenders of the sixth edition of Doma Dobre will thus see a fantastic show by this Dutch ska-rock band once again. The night shelter will also feature Bratislava rock’n’rolll delivered by Saténové Ruky and the temperament and impulsiveness from under the Tatra Mountains presented by Lomnické Čháve. The concerts will be held in the low-threshold night shelter of St. Vincent de Paul on Sunday, 8 December, from 2 p.m. The event will also include a discussion on homelessness, an exhibition of photos, video projections and a children's play area (featuring Notový Danny and the theatre Ministerstvo nápadov). Admission to the concert is free, as in previous years. However, you can help the homeless by making a voluntary contribution.

25. November 2019

At the Doma Dobre, at the De Drie Gezusters club, on the school bus or on the main stage of Pohoda... Wherever the Dutch ska-rock group Bazzookas appear, they bring contagious joy of performing and incredible energy. Almost nobody here knew them before Pohoda 2016, but after the festival was over we had the most positive reactions on them. The affection was obviously mutual, since at the Reeperbahn in 2017 the band awarded Pohoda with the Bazzookas Award for the best festival they had ever played. Everything you need to know about them is in a video from the Pohoda acoustic session series or in their own aftermovie from last year's Pohoda. They demonstrated their incredible musical, but especially human greatness at the last year's Doma Dobre concert. Not only did they travel all the way from the Netherlands and they didn't accept a cent for the concert, but they delivered the show with such commitment, as if they were playing for the biggest promoters and label-owners. We are therefore very pleased that this great bunch of people will come to Doma Dobre again and will play for the attenders of the event and for the clients of the low-threshold night shelter.

The Gypsy Band Lomnické Čháve filled up the NAY dance house at Pohoda 2017 and left everyone feeling breathless. The editor in chief of the Music Festival Wizard portal described the concert as the best dance party of the year. A year later, they came to us with a documentary by Ladislav Kaboš entitled Kapela (The Band). A few hours afterwards, they started an energetic dance party on the main stage when they played during the Welcoming of the Sun ceremony with perhaps the greatest participation so far. In a few days, they will perform at Bashavel as part of the Roma Spirit event, which they also attend as a band nominated in the Culture category (for authentic and wild music production and presentation of the Roma culture). They are currently working on new songs, the first video and will also perform at the Doma Dobre concert.

Saténové Ruky are musically characterized by simple guitar riffs and rock and roll drives. They have released great albums Bozkávam and Tretí album and the new single "Gravitácia" and "37°C". What is great about their concert is the band members' apparent joy of what they do (confirmed at Pohoda in 2016, 2017 and 2018). As Vlado Janček said in an interview for Newsound: "The feeling of having one's own vinyl in their hand, or when other people than their colleagues from work show up at the concert, is really worth it." Therefore, you will definitely make Vlado happy if you come to their concert in St. Vincet de Paul night shelter.

You can reach the night shelter by buses number 61 and 96, and then you can walk the journey from the Fafruny bus stop that the clients of the night shelter have to take every night and morning. There are about 4,000 homeless people in the streets of Bratislava. Low-threshold night shelter services are used by more than 1,000 people each year. The employees of Depaul Slovakia make sure to provide homeless people with warmth, food and basic services, no matter what condition they come in. Among other things, they will also obtain toiletries and, in case they’re interested, also social counselling and help in finding work. We are looking forward to seeing you.

How can you help?

  • The concert admission is free, you can make a voluntary contribution during the concert, which will help the Depaul Slovakia staff provide the homeless people with a bed or meal
  • By sending an empty text message to 827 you will support the work with the homeless by the sum of € 3
  • You can also contribute indefinitely via www.depaulcharity.org and www.dobrakrajina.sk
  • By a contribution at the Depaul stand – which will get you a nice t-shirt, a bag, or a badge
