Street Dance Battle

Street Dance Battle SK

Energy, wild moves, and healthy rivalry. This year again, we will see some of Slovakia’s best dance crews go head-to-head in styles like hip-hop, house dance, breakin’, vogue, and dancehall. The Street Dance Battle and dynamic dance performances will add an extra spark to Pohoda’s programme.

This year again, you can look forward to the legendary Street Dance Battle at Pohoda, a tradition spanning twenty years. This year’s edition will showcase two distinct forms of dance artistry. The first will be a dance battle, where four crews made up of the best Slovak dancers in styles such as hip-hop, house dance, breakin’, vogue, and dancehall will go head-to-head. These battles are always packed with energy, wild moves, and healthy rivalry – and this year will be no exception.

The second part of the programme will feature dynamic dance performances. This year, we’ve added more choreography and a wider range of styles to create an even better dance experience. Four talented groups will deliver an unforgettable show.

KIKI HOUSE OF VELVET
The heart and soul of this crew is Monika Prikkelová, aka @monnush, a pioneer of vogue in Slovakia. For years, she has been training dancers, raising awareness of this extravagant style, creating opportunities, organising events, and advocating for the rights and visibility of the LGBTIQ+ community. With Kiki House of Velvet, you can expect an unforgettable and extravagant show.

BADD FYAH
Dancehall has had a strong presence in Slovakia for years, largely thanks to the dancers of Badd Fyah. For years they have been building awareness of this Jamaican dance in our country, organising numerous events, workshops, and even the legendary Bratislava Vibey party, where things get wild. They’ll also bring a taste of the Caribbean to Pohoda.

THE SLOVAK WAACKERS
The Slovak community of dancers dedicated to the Waacking style. This expressive dance was born in 1970s gay clubs on the U.S. West Coast during the disco era and is characterised by a strong emphasis on musicality, primarily showcased through arm movements and posing. It’s mainly accompanied by disco music, and it brings plenty of extravagance and unforgettable moments.

SIMON ŠINKA & FRIENDS
Unlike the other performances, which focus on a single style, this show blends multiple dance genres into one breathtaking, high-energy performance full of surprises. Choreographed by the young and talented dancer and performer Simon Šinka, the show will feature a group of dancers known from major TV projects and collaborations with top music artists in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
