Pražský výběr CZ

The legendary band Pražský výběr will perform at Pohoda 2024. The group around Michael Kocáb is famous for its dissident past, but it has enjoyed distinct concert success also in recent years. In 2016, they played their biggest solo concert with the symphony in the sold-out O2 Arena and opened the Rolling Stones concert in Prague.
Pražský výběr began as a jazz-rock branch of the Prague Big Band in the second half of the 1970s. In the early 1980s, influenced by young Western bands, they switched to new wave.

Juraj Herz made a film with them called Straka v hrsti (Magpie in the Hand), in which several Charter 77 personalities appeared as extras. Both the film and the most popular Czech rock band of the time immediately fell into disfavour with the regime until the authorities banned their activity completely in 1983-86. After the revolution, the band's leader, Michael Kocáb, became a member of parliament and chairman of the Parliamentary Commission overseeing the withdrawal of Soviet troops from the territory of the former Czechoslovakia.
