Manon Meurt masterfully navigate contrasts between quiet and noisy passages, and they are famous for the epic build-ups in their songs. This quartet hails from the Czech town of Rakovník and has been active since 2012. The current lineup includes drummer Jiří Bendl, singer, guitarist, and bassist Kateřina Elznicová, keyboardist David Tichý, and guitarist Kryštof Korčák.
Their first album, MMXVIII, released in 2018, was produced by the legendary Jan P. Muchow of The Ecstasy of Saint Theresa. The album was nominated for both the Apollo Czech Music Critics Award and the Anděl Award in the Alternative and Electronic Music category.
For their new album, the band has once again collaborated with a prominent producer – British musician Eddie Stevens, known for his work with Moloko, Zero 7, Róisín Murphy, and Jana Kirschner.
Having initially built their sound on the ruins of shoegaze with influences from bands like Slowdive, Lush, and Ride, Manon Meurt is evolving with their new record, moving beyond their 90s inspirations. On their new album, Unravel, they seamlessly blend genres from trip hop to grunge to ambient folk, with touches of dream pop’s swirling chaos.
