Aquaserge

Aquaserge FR

One of the most inventive avant-rock bands is coming to Pohoda. The music of French band Aquaserge is a blend of experimental, rock, free jazz, pop, noise, French music, kraut, and influences from iconic Gallic bands.

The French band Aquaserge was formed in 2005 as a trio in Toulouse, southern France. Over the years, the lineup expanded and evolved into the current five-piece: Benjamin Glibert (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Audrey Ginestet (bass guitar, vocals), Manon Glibert (clarinet, vocals), Olivier Kelchtermans (keyboards, baritone saxophone, soprano saxophone, vocals), and Julien Chamla (drums, percussion, vocals). The band has released seven studio albums, beginning with their debut in 2009 and their latest just last spring.

The strength of this band lies primarily in their live performances, as their 2018 live album Déjà vous? proves. The British music magazine The Wire described wrote: “Their style is global, densely packed with ideas, mathematically precise, boldly anarchic, ignoring boundaries of all kinds and sparking with a penchant for the weird.”

At Pohoda, we can look forward to hearing tracks from their latest album, La fin de l'économie, released in May 2024, which is characterised by a prominent guitar sound, superb melodies distinctively infused with jazz and 70s film music, and poetic lyrics reflecting their bold perspective on the state of the world.

"Among other amazing bands performing at Pohoda this year, Aquaserge will also be there. They couldn’t make it last year but ended up playing at our Pink Whale club, and it was absolutely incredible. While their studio recordings might feel a bit academic, their live shows have a phenomenal energy, so I really can’t recommend them enough. Plus, they’re such lovely people. Go see them! And honestly, just go to Pohoda!" invites Ľubo Šoška from Bratislava’s Pink Whale club.
