The Ills at Pohoda 2016

Last Wednesday (20/4), they released their fourth album named Ornamental or Mental. Immediately after that, they announced their performance at Iceland Airwaves in November. Tonight, they are playing live on the Pohoda_FM show and after their great appearance at Pohoda Party, we will be pleased to welcome them at the airport in Trenčín.

Bratislavaʼs The Ills bounce between math-rock, shoegaze, and post-rock. Their instrumental music is characterized by unique dreamy atmosphere. The Ills are among the most active Slovak bands; they have given a number of concerts abroad as well as at the biggest Slovak events. The Hudba.sk portal likened the atmosphere of The Ills concerts to those of the The Cure and Sigur Rós.The Polish Beehype and the Czech web magazine Full Moon were no less praiseful when the latter one stated after their concert: “The Ills are known for their “solos” being a mathematical miracle. Everything fits and tunes, one tune pays tribute to the other, and wheels are spinning”.

Last week, they published their fourth studio album named Ornamental or Mental on their profile on Bandcamp; it contains 7 instrumental tracks. The unofficial frontman of the band, Martin Iso Krajčír, provided a brief summary on the new album: “As older and slower guys, we are releasing a faster and happier album. We are really proud of it and sincerely look forward to the reactions of people. It is not just about the recording, but mostly about actual faces in clubs and at festivals”. We are particularly looking forward to the reaction of people after their performance at the 20th edition of Pohoda.
