The Breakthrough of the Year - BULP

Bulp, the current holder of the Breakthrough of the Year Award at the Radio Head Awards and a huge talent in electronic music will appear at Pohoda 2016.

27. April 2016

Bulp is the pseudonym of Samo Štefanec, a young audio track student. As a child, he attended piano lessons for several years. He began to acquaint with the creation of electronic music using his cousinʼs software when he was just 11 years old. His music is influenced by Mount Kimbie, Moderat, and Bonobo, while dominant are melodic lines and striking rhythms. In addition to acoustic sounds and different samples, he increasingly began to use his vocals and the distinctive voice of her sister Janka. He has been quite busy since last summer: he and his sister recorded and published the song Far Light, which has become popular with Slovak radios. In late September, they released their debut EP with five songs, Endian EP.

We could first watch their video for the song Far Light in early October. In the video, the groping in the dark and the search for the light are expressed by a Norwegian student and dancer Magdalene Solli. In mid-October, they opened the concert of the Austrian HVOB in Prague. At the end of last year, Hudba.sk ranked Endian EP among the top 40 albums of the year. The nomination for Single of the Year and the Breakthrough of the Year at the Radio Head Awards followed, and the second mentioned nomination turned into an RHA statuette for the Breakthrough of the year 2015. With this list of achievements, it is hardly surprising that Samo and Janka will also play at Pohoda 2016, which is a ť-minute walk from their home.
