POHODA 2016: OLD-NEW NAME AND NEW MAIN FESTIVAL PARTNER – URPINER
After sixteen years, Pohoda Festival restores its original name. The best-known festival in Slovakia follows the trend set by big European festivals that gradually stopped being named after their partners. This change is an outcome of the end of fourteen-year-long partnership with company Heineken Slovakia. Serve good-quality beer to the visitors at the 20th edition of festival. Thatʼs the challenge Banská Bystrica-based brewery with their brand Urpiner has risen to.

Chairman of the board at the brewery, Branislav Cvik, about the partnership with Pohoda: “A partnership between an exceptional Slovakian beer and an exceptional Slovakian festival is a good start for providing festival-goers with an exceptional experience. Weʼve been pioneers on the market of flavored beers for several years. URPINER has long crossed Banská Bystrica region boundaries and became known across Slovakia, receiving awards at home as well as abroad. To team up with Pohoda Festival is a natural thing to do, confirming that good beer and good music are inseparable allies when it comes to creating POHODA.”The vice-chairman of the board, Ľubomír Vančo, has similar views: “To be a partner of the festival, I dare say, of world format, is from the professional standpoint a big challenge and at the same time a big responsibility. Weʼll do our best to offer festival-goers our exceptional products that receive awards at degustation contests abroad.”
With new partner, Pohoda continues to cooperate with local breweries. After two years with Topvar, followed a 14-year-long successful partnership with Zlatý Bažant. Michal Kaščák, Pohoda Festival CEO, thanked the company for the partnership as follows: “Our cooperation with Zlatý Bažant was amazing; we became friends with a lot of people from the company and like their beer. We will continue to respect and thank Heineken for helping our festival grow. When a company decides to support culture, even more so if itʼs a long-term thing, is a precious thing to do. We thank Zlatý Bažant from the heart. We are also happy about our first meetings with Urpiner. We can feel enthusiasm as well as responsibility. Right after formation of agreement, we kicked off preparations so that the partnership goes like clockwork. The story of Urpiner is amazing; his current owners managed to build a brewery with great beer and we hope our festival-goers will enjoy it. We appreciate that also this local company supports art and has decided to team up with us.”Veronika Gulášová (Partnership Director at Pohoda Festival) experienced the festival as a partner as well as a festival-goer. What are her expectations with regard to cooperation with Urpiner? “Our first meetings with a new partner were full of positive energy. We feel enthusiasm and trust on Urpinerʼs side and thatʼs much appreciated. Our goal is to provide festival-goers with a high-quality product, excellent service and “pohoda” experiences. No doubt that, together, weʼre going to make it!”
Urpiner provided beverages also at Pohoda Party, where Pohoda announced other news regarding the upcoming edition. We revealed the latest confirmed artists, so PJ Harvey, Parov Stelar, and more were added to the bill along with Sigur Rós and Gogol Bordello. Since the end of November, riddles and Pohoda 2016 artists announcements are prepared by Milk Studio agency.
