Kurkus
Kurkus (pronounced /kooRkoos/) is a vulgar pop / dance punk band founded in 2011 in Košice; Slovakia.

The band consists of Knieža Laureatus Pixtibaxti (lead vocals, synthesizers, guitar), Honoré (bass, synthesizers, backing vocals) and Obalajtman (drums, percussion, vocals). The band's name means “cock” at any sense of the word (male hen, etc.) in pre-historic slavic dead protolanguage. It also originates from a statement “kur kus” which means “smoke a bit”. Each band member was an experienced musician when joining Kurkus. Pixtibaxti (Filip Orator) had released four albums with his electropop band Ears and had been creating movie soundtracks. Honoré (Pavol Havaši) had played in local alternative acts such as legendary post punk band Liter Geňa led by writer Agda Bavi Pain, Obalajtman (Róbert Tkáč) was a professional studio and tour musician supporting numerous pop stars. After Kurkus started recording material for their first album, they were not able to stop producing still new tracks until the end of 2014. During this period they have recorded more than one hundred songs from which they created an octaple album named Octameron. The Octameron consists of the following albums: De Luxe, Embryo, Shivak, Interstellar, Horrorpop, Blue Mrok, Orgovanoque and Káre ma kár. Kurkus' lyrics are ironic minimalistic poems written in Slovak, English and Pendalanguage (an internationally comprehensible language based on indo-european principles spontaneously exploring new words without having any distinctive grammar. used in the song Comacode e.g.) Kurkus are also supporting and mentoring experimental musical sessions in their hometown Košice such as Tabačka Music Lab.
