Katarzia

Katarzia

Katarína Kubošiová, aka Katarzia, will too perform at the 21st edition of Pohoda. After releasing her debut “Generácia Y” at the end of 2013, she became a significant figure of Slovak folk music. Last autumn, she released her second album “Agnostika”, in which her songwriting translated in a completely new dimension. She collaborated on the album with Martin Valihora and the two played a fantastic concert at last year's Pohoda. We are pleased to welcome her with new songs at our festival this year, too.

Katarzia has made an unusual move on the Slovak scene: after the first excellent album, we thought she would be forever playing a guitar that would be growing every year until it is bigger than the stage in the cultural centre Dúbravka. This idea, however, was smashed away right with her second album; she turned to wizards Marek Minárik and Martin Valihora, added electronics, and, completely unexpectedly, she delivered a surprising recording that became a big thing. It has great songs in excellent arrangements and perfect lyrics. She managed to maintain her specific expression, which is great. The Czech portal iReport rated her latest album four and a half points out of five and noted that “Agnostika is an unmistakable and distinctive recording”. Miloš Krekovič of Denník N spoke even more praiseworthy: “An exceptional talent recorded an exceptional record. The question now is whether the Slovak album of the year was released by Longital or Katarzia”. Katarzia is known for her specific phrasing. It turned out to be a big plus—during her listening session with foreign professionals, her expression was very well appreciated, and even with her songs in Slovak, many were positive about her gaining success abroad. Next week, she will publish a video clip for song “Milovať s Hudbou”. She will play this and other great pieces in just 50 days at Pohoda 2017.
