Garáž – the loudest sound on the smallest stage
After its successful premiere last year, the smallest stage and at the same time art installation, Garáž (Garage), will be part of Pohoda 2017 again. The gerontological-punk band Veľká Potreba, the running mud of Žilina-based duo Möbius and the local punk-rockers Uhol Dopadu will take the stage on Friday night after 1 AM.
27. June 2017
Veľká Potreba is a duo of tesil musicians that mixes minimalist patterns with modern technologies and DIY approach. Band’s music styles have ranged from radical improvisation through contemporary robotic punk-rock, to post-punk and the 80s. In their music, band members – Pufi (vocals and trombone), Panky (guitars, vocals) and Dr. Robot (drums and bass at the same time) – analyze emotional problems of the young people in their 40s with a childish precision and a sense of generalization. They will introduce their mix of nihilism and romance in Garáž on Saturday from 1 AM.
We got to know Žilina-based band Möbius thanks to Rudi Rus’s recommendation. They claim allegiance to the likes of Electric Wizard, Eyehategod, Sunn O))), Melvins or Earth. In the minimalist lineup of guitar – drums, they play slow hc, sludge or stoner rock in a pure instrumental form. Maximally strict slow drum hits intertwine with monumental guitar riffs and together create a killer sound.
Trenčín-based punk rock band Uhol Dopadu has been on the scene for 9 years. Band’s core members are Peter Stračár (bass and vocals), Ivan Slaný (guitar) and Roman Minárik (drums). The second guitarist Mišák Štramák and saxophonist and keyboardist, Damián Melo, joined the band in 2016 and 2017, respectively. They have two albums and one EP as well as a number of concerts in Czechia and Slovakia under their belts. They’ve recently released a single “Za ľudskosť”. They will be closing the program at Garage late at night on Friday.
