Fufanu - made in Iceland

What will the winter solstice do with the restless soul of a young Icelander?

30. January 2015

In 2009, Fufanu started as an electronic duo that soon played festivals such as Roskilde or Iceland Airwaves. The duo with singular Icelandic names, Hrafnkell Flóki Kaktus Einarsson and Guðlaugur Halldór Einarsson (a.k.a. Kaktus and Gulli) exchanged Macbooks and DJ booths for guitars and switched from electro to psychedelic future rock and post punk. Last year in October, Rolling Stone listed them among “10 New Artists You Need to Know.” In November, front man of bands Blur and Gorillaz – Damon Albarn – invited them to open for his concert at Royal Albert Hall. A few weeks back at Eurosonic, The Netherlands, they convinced Michal Kaščák as well. Kaktus, Gulli are now working on their debut in cooperation with One Little Indian record label (Björk, Ásgeir...). What will the album be like when played live? Our festival-goers now have got the chance to find out.
