Einstürzende Neubauten – German industrial legend
“First one must make space, so that something new can be created.” These Blixa Bargeld words perhaps most accurately define the philosophy of the cult band Einstürzende Neubauten (collapsing new buildings) from West Berlin.

At the time of their formation (1980), the band shocked the audience by immense noise, intense irregular rhythms and apocalyptic lyrics. Their anti-pop served as antidote to wake up paralyzed masses and parodied the emptiness of mainstream music. Destroying borders, the band laid the foundations for the arrival of acts such as Depeche Mode, Rammstein or Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (Bargeld was one of bands’ members).
Gradually, the band turned the tempo and volume down, but never in their 35-year existence have they lowered the level of inventions or conformed to the taste of radio dramaturges. Quite the other way around, the dramaturges conformed to the band. Einstürzende Neubauten also initiated a revolution in music production. Between 2002 and 2005 they were financing their music following a model of Internet supporters. In total, the band has recorded 11 albums; the latest Lament saw its release only last year. Presenting the best of their production, in July, they are coming to push the borders of musical experience of Slovakian audience.
