Ecumenical service with the theme of Jobʼs news

The festival will be closed with an ecumenical service about suffering, free will, and solidarity with the suffering.

06. July 2015

The topic of Jobʼs news is particularly live looking at the human suffering in the Middle East, sub-Saharan Africa, and people migrating from these regions. Another example is the life of Jan Hus and “Havelʼs” answer to the question of how not to lose hope and remain faithful to goodness and truth even when it is clear that suffering is not going to end. Due to health reasons, Anton Srholec will not speak to visitors this year, however, his message will be read by Daniel Pastirčák, the preacher of the Church of Brethren. The service will be co-officiated with Anka Polcková, the Pastor of the Evangelical Church, and Juraj Jordan Doval, the Bishop of The Czechoslovak Hussite Church.

The musical programme of the services will be varied, too. You will hear electronic improvisations — Pjoni and George Bagdasarov, songs by John Tavener and Hildegard von Binden performed by Eva Šušková and Jozef Lupták, the Slovak version of the song by YES — Soon oh soon the light, and the song The Love of Christ. Theatergoers can enjoy a beautiful scene Satan and God playing chess performed by the actors of the SKRAT Theatre.
