Eagulls were formed in 2010 by a group of friends from Leeds. The band play a mix of post-punk, shoegaze, hardcore and indie rock and are most often compared with the likes of The Cure and Clash. In 2013, they caught everyone’s attention when they posted a controversial letter about music industry on their blog.
In 2014, they released a self-titled debut album that received 7.4 out of 10 points from Pitchfork. The author of the review, Brandon Stosuy, appreciates how easily the songs pull you in and regards “Possessed” as album’s best track that “would stand out on just about any post-punk mix tape.” The band were chosen as the main support for Franz Ferdinand's 2014 UK tour.
According to NME, Eagulls are vital and offer “anthems for a doomed youth.” As The Guardian puts it, “Be brilliant or ridiculous, Eagulls, or be both. Just don’t be boring.” The band have recently released two tracks from their upcoming album: “Lemontrees” and “My Life in Rewind.” The actual follow-up studio album titled Ullages is slated for release on May 13th. The band will come to present the album in its entirety at Pohoda 2016.
