Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons

Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons

Damian Lazarus was born in London. This sentence implies the diversity of styles young Damian and the city itself came across: hip-hop, electro, soul, funk, hardcore and house. Given this range, it comes as no surprise that he became music editor, DJ, producer and head A&R of a record label.

Since the moment he spun his first record, Damian Lazarus’s mission has been a clear one: to blow away the mediocre, the over-inflated, the obsolete; to seek out and celebrate the energetic, the important, the new. Always rebelling. As he explains, playing around with different styles and ideas is what he does best. Back in 2004, DJ Magazine wrote that “Damian Lazarus plays the best underground records in the world”. In 2008, he began Lazpod, a monthly excursion into weird and wonderful sound. This is approximately when an idea that inspired last year’s emergence of project Damian Lazarus & Ancient Moons was born. Damian says that he drew inspiration from DJing under the open sky and the project’s music captures moments such as “soundtracking the rising of the sun in the morning”. We believe that our festival is an ideal place for him to captivate more fans.
