Billy Barman & Chiki Liki tu-a

At this year's festival, Billy Barman with their ongoing garage image will perform, and Chiki Liki tu-a will celebrate their 20th anniversary.

13. May 2015

Billy Barman

Baladic lyrics with the poetics of nightclubs, grass-mowing songs, gables, and isolated settlements. Indie-rock with the elements of folk and electronics, guitars typical of the nineties, and keyboards of the eighties. Another performer of this year is the band of seasoned musicians with a persistent image of a garage band – Billy Barman. Through their leader musicians, Billy Barman inherited their genes from the bands Cliché and Vetroplach.

Juraj Podmanický and Jozef Vrábel share the microphone on the stage and ideas in the studio and cottages. The younger audience was fast attracted by their rock'n'roll debut Noční jazdci (Night Riders). Three years later, they came up with a slightly more intimate but more precisely arranged album Modrý jazyk (Blue Tongue). Their songs like "Introvert", "Cigánska", "Strná voda", and "Vrkoče" are very popular online (on YouTube) and offline (under the stage) as well. Billy Barman indicates how midstream could maintain 220 volts in Slovakia. You can come and see at this year's Bažant Pohoda that Vrábel has still got the Podmanický sound:)

Chiki liki tu-a

The founders of acrobatic rock'n'roll and the Festival of bad music, the musicians nominated three times for the Aurel award, the holders of Zlatý gunár (Golden Gander) as the Slovak band playing most often abroad... Chiki Liki Tu-a will celebrate their twentieth birthday at Bažant Pohoda, too.

The band was formed in Prešov in 1995 by the Višňovský brothers, Marián Ivan, and Peter Šimo. They are known for their witty lyrics, great atmosphere of their concerts, and a strong mixing of genres. The band released the albums Nezatváraj Milan dvere (Do not close doors, Milan) (1998), Budeš musel vlasy na blond prefarbil (Will have to dye your hair blond), Kysak (2002), Choďte sa hrať pred vlastný vchod (Go to play in front of your entrance) (2003), and Dvojkilometrový jeleň (Two kilometres long Deer) (2005). In March 2014, the members of the band stated that the new album was “in the high stage of pregnancy”. Even if delayed by nearly a year, their fans finally lived to hear: the album Slzy tvý mámy, Šedivý a spol. (Your momʼs tears, Grey et al.) was released in March this year (2015), and the band is currently presenting it at the “Czechoslovakia” tour. Chiki Liki Tu-A will play a combination of ten projects and their greatest hits for the visitors of Bažant Pohoda 2015.
